I don't blame people for freaking out about all of this. Fear of scientists is built into our modern mythology, from The China Syndrome to Superman. Scientists doing stuff, saying it's OK, then finding out that WHOOPS, it's not OK. Kiss your butt goodbye, it's been a fun ride. Cancel Christmas.
The whole thing is stupid, and something that scientists shouldn't be messing with anyway. Recreating the Big Bang? What's the point of that? It wouldn't surprise me if something DID happen, and they kept it undercover.
I wish that instead of doing these stupid experiments that benefit NO ONE or nothing but the egos of a few scientists, they'd cure cancer or build my flying car that runs 800 miles on a single D-cell battery. Now THAT would have been something I'd drop 6 billion dollars for.
Figure things out? What the heck is the point in figuring out the Big Bang? Who the heck is that helping? Tell me, Mr. Brilliant.
But since I already know everything, I'll tell you who it's helping. NO ONE. Tell me the practical purpose in knowing the nature of dark matter and dark energy or the nature of quantum fields, unless they're building the Everlasting Gobstopper Battery. No one can tell me how this has any practical purpose to things happening RIGHT NOW. No one. A huge waste of money.
