[n00b] Gimme a 'Go'!

Hello BHWers,
After days of frustrating Keyword Research i think i finally found a sniper keyword i wanna build my site or rather blog around, although i have knowledge of SEO, but im making sure all of the i's are dotted and t's are crossed.

Please give an expert advice on this keyword, will it be a good keyword to go?

This keyword has 30,000 competing pages, and "keyword" has 3,000.

Honestly, a lot of the time you never know until you try it out. In your case I would definitely say to go for it.
But still get multiple opinions if you're really not sure about it.

Thanks TJ for a worthy input. I know it's trial and error, well most of the time.

MS is a good tool to quickly get a overview. But to find out the real competition is it necessarily to look at each of the results on page 1.

Because it's your first site, would I say: Get started and don't think to much about the competition of your kw. You are going to make heaps of mistake with your new site - the important thing is to learn from these mistakes, so you are even better, when you start up your new project.
