I think many on here use GMail to communicate and sometimes they tend to send URLs, strategy descriptions and other important files by e-mail.

Just a friendly reminder: Google indexes EVERYTHING. And the point of doing blackhat is to game Google. If you let the bitch know everything then the point of gaming her becomes moot.

So once again, don't use GMail. At the very least you could use Yahoo Mail or Hotmail or other web based mail (tons of them around).

that would be some major privacy issues.. u really think the gmail department mingles with the search department?

It's not whether they mingle or not. GMail's terms specify that everything gets indexed. All that data goes in a pool that is later mined. What they mine and how they use it, I don't know. But I wouldn't take a chance, even if they don't look for blackhat stuff now, who says they won't be looking for it in the future?

Hey,

Nice warning but:

You can take advantage of this,
If you want G to index a site quickly
just send the URL from one gmail account
to another one.

It works also with links to your site.

Good luck,

A.

Agreed there, but still, why let Google know about your linking structure, when you can just use pinging with the same results, but without giving up the fact that you run all the sites?

You should really pay more attention to the news if you're in the IM game :D. A judge in the US has ordered Google to have an outside privacy audit, because they aren't even following their own privacy terms!

Worth reading through the related stories as well, somewhere you'll find that after 6 months US federal agencies only need a warrernt instead of a subpeona (is it that way round? Im not from the us so I forget lol the lower one anyway) to access your emails...

I for one have no intention to take any chances. :)
