[FUN] TOP Epic Fails in SEO !!

I was running a ranking report a while back for one of my sites and I was ecstatic that we reached #1 so fast with one of our geo terms. Then I realize I spelled it like this.

"Auto Loan Vaginia"

Yup that's us at #1. Wonder what I was thinking about that day?

When I first started I did a ton of SEO on a Weebly blog. They deleted it, and all of the money and time I spent was wasted.
 
Today, I spent a few hours in frustration. None of the files in cPanel would work because...


(Wait for it...)


...I forgot to update the DNS for the domain. Now I have to wait at least 24 hours to do anything at all with the site.

Quite possibly the most dumbass thing I've ever done in IM.
 
Used to be a Clickbank vendor and was very new to purchasing services at BHW.
Beforehand, I asked people to critic my salespage - they said my grammar and punctuation in the salespage needs to be improved.
Posted a thread in the freelancer section asking others that I need someone to correct my grammar and punctuation in my salespage - paid $350 (didn't know the market rate back then).

In the end, I asked people to critic my salespage again and they said my grammar and punctuation still had problems. FML.
Biggest mistake ever learnt - Never go for freelancers and always learn about the market rates first - if you don't know, don't do it.

Put tons and tons of work into Blogger Blogs when I first started out only to realize that G slaps them down like flies and you'll never see them again, also never had back up copies so all of my content was lost as well, lesson learned - invest in yourself, even if its just time...
 
I thought the competitor green bar in Google Keyword Tool is level of competition for a keyword.

I felt like a :baby09:
 
bought 50 edu domains for $X,XXX just to realize I could not start a service thread on BHW.
 
Got super drunk one night and bought an e-mail bot off of Olaf on DG for 100 bucks. Had no idea what I was doing and didn't know anti spam laws existed. Got scared, never used the program, and it didn't work 1 month later. Olaf goes A - Wall and I loose 100 bucks.

I rank 2nd in a keyword which get 48 queries a month ! I was expecting 1 200 000 according to the Adword Tools, i didn't tick "exact" :)

ya i did this over a week buying tons of domains and then realizing a month or so later i didnt check exact instead of broad :(
 
i ranked for a keyword with 50-100 exact searches per month when i started seo...

i worked more than 3 weeks on this site... spent 50€ for custom wp theme and this website brought me 0,54€ the last 2 Months...


Also one more true story:

i bought a "subdomain" for 1000€ on ebay about Buddhism.

because i saw it was $327,551.73 worth in cubestat...

this site was ranked for the lokal keyword buddism online..

i tought i would make millions because i am page one...

i tought it was a million dollar deal... but fail...

the worth was just the worth of the subdomain .de.tl...

but i recieved the money back :)

LOL.. ROFL... I've been laughing with tears in my eyes on this.. Gosh!
 
When I was working on one of my sites on seo.

I looked at my competitor and his site became hacked.
When you clicked on it, it was nothing but porn pics lol
 
And one more mistake that you must avoid.

The green color in competition box don`t show you exact competition. This show you competition in adwords ads.
 
I learned that 7 million broad actually equalled 800 exact lol
