Define dead?

I made around $300,000 in 12 months from Facebook. There is no way you can make that much again with the current state of Facebook. They are ontop of it. Just look at Facecrooks and Sophos. They report the odd spam, but they are low numbers.

I seen the xBox thing floating about, but Facebook killed it today at 108k likes. On a 10% conversion rate (likes to survey clicks (which is about right)) thats 10800 survey clicks. 10% conversions on those gives you around 1800, average survey being about $1 (which is high), thats still around $1800. Ramp it up to a high guesstimate and lets say he done $5000.

... Which is poor compared to what some of us are used to earning.

Then again, if someone came up to you and said work for 24 hours straight, and I will give you $5000 ... would you do it? Hell ya!

Facebook has defiantly decreased in earning potential compared to the past.

The problem is, as soon as your unique idea goes viral, all the sewer rats clone it, they all pool together with their collective amount of traffic and you're stuff goes dry the moment sophos or Facecrooks get wind.

While 300,000k in 12 months is a great income that a lot of people would be very happy with it's not that extraordinary if you're using FB apps. Facebook is not dead and is not close to being dead, you think a cash cow like that will ever die? Hell no talented coders are out there right now making unbelievable dough with custom scripts. Just because you don't see them in the ******* chat room "shouting" it doesn't mean it's not happening. Sure it's become harder, but with the right tools making 30k per month is indeed very possible and is being done by plenty out there. I would say the hardest part today is just getting a damn PVA that makes apps. Make friends with big earners don't badger them for their secrets but just talk to them and slowly ask for advice most people I have on Skype I met here and all are happy to help me out. A piece of advice is to be more original don't just copy and paste peoples niches thats the fastest way to get your app deleted.

your right, the members are aware of our games but we are one step ahead and have teams of people thinking out side the box ....... and then their are a few select who don't just think out side the box, the rip the dam thing apart !!

You know what? I used to be all about blackhat marketing, and yeah it works for a bit, and then gets patched. The reality is that unless you have money, most blackhat stuff just isn't worth it. Make great content, dot your i's, cross your t's, do real, good quality SEO, and you should be fine unless your content sucks or you're just trying to get PPC's or something. But that's not really worth it either unless you're going to invest in the right tools. And that's a full-time job.

Second, people are becoming inoculated to spam, so it's not easy, which is why you have to invest. People don't even really read any posts in groups for example. They all just use it as a place to spam their thoughts, and that's all that ever happens. I can see sex bots working, but even then, little by little people get hip to it, and the tools more expensive.

I don't know, that's just my take.
