this still work rather well even on new sites and is quite safe

thats pretty much it

but you will need to get other types of links too
(like profile links or edu or social bookmarks etc)
its pretty hard to rank with only 1 method

SweTech - I've actually done around 3 - 4 hours of searching between last night and this morning, I've read around 30 threads in full detail. I've searched about VenomSEO, xRumer, ScrapeBox & SeNuke x. I just haven't managed to find a great deal on manual link building so if you can find any good threads on here I'd be more than happy to read them.

EDIT: Also it's not the fact that I don't know how to search it's also the fact that I don't know what to search for, I feel like I don't know what terminology to search for considering I've not been in SEO for very long at all. I only found out what a link pyramid is, today.

It seems like maybe you are wanting to rely completely on automated tools and other spammy services. There is no push button magic tool or service that will get you top rankings. When I stopped using automated tools and spammy services and started to use some good old fashion elbow grease is when I started making money online. If you want to use automated tools and other services to supplement your IM that's fine. But realistically, hard work comes first and will ultimately pay off in the long run.

If you do anything, outsource. Build highly relevant links through forum posting and guest blogging. Back links surrounded by relevant content will pass much more weight.
