The short answers:

1) Some major factors are the age of the sites on page one, as well as the PR and back-links you are going up against.

2) Zip submit CPAs convert very well with the right SEO. They tend to be unavailable to beginners in CPA networks though.


Just judging by your questions; My biggest suggestion would be to float around the forum some more and soak up as much info as you can before jumping in the SEO pool. It's a lot to take in at first, but if you're dedicated enough you'll be able to wrap your head around it eventually.
