What's wrong with me?

I'm on a camping trip, but I'm still reading and posting to BHW. Is this normal? Should I be worried? Will the prospect of pancakes finally draw me away from my iPhone?

I'm not sure you can consider it a bonafied camping trip if you still have a wifi signal. Turn off the phone, break camp, and head for the real wilderness where you can't post! Seriously though, enjoy the trip

I also have difficulty walking away from the box for any lengthy period, so here is what I', going to do about; at least for today.

I have a couple of clients to take care of and that involves some outside of the office work and then a return to the office for a bit to send out notifications, etc.

I should be finished with that no later than 3 PM CDT USA time.

After that I am going to go get some Chinese, not take my laptop with me as I usually do and work on a project that is weeks behind; I'm not going to turn on my IM; I will be "Away" and we'll see what happens.

Or I may just screw off.

Yes but it doesn't take 30-40 seconds to type that on an iPhone which is how the OP typed his long post.

Well I'm not doubting his abilities but I know from experience that it's not that easy to type on the iPhone and even when you're typing fast it takes some time. Maybe if you had a stylus then you would be able to type faster.

I use my iPhone to maintain some of the sites I work on when I am away from my main rig and all I can say is that you do get faster, but you also have to learn to "use the force" in the sense that you start trusting the autocomplete more. Of course it sometimes messes up perfectly good words too, so you have to watch it. Anyway, I find it a little easier to use in landscape mode, and type with both thumbs at the same time.

It's sometimes good to go out and turn off all your toys.

This way I've had many goos fresh ideas.
