In WP can you have too many tags for a post?

Hello...Still a noob here obviously....So my question is can you have too many tags in your posts...My thought would be you can never have enough...but does G require ONLY super relevant tags?

IMO there really shouldn't be that many, make them relevant, and dont f around cause if G shows up manually and you're ranking pages with too many stupid tags they're gonna give you the boot, my suggestion would be stick with 5 or so and then if you find you have more keywords to use then make a new post, trust me I just lost a site for being greedy with easy to rank article tag keywords...

And yes - if you do decide to use tags, then why would you like to overdo it. You are only going to focus on 1 or 2 kw for each page anyway!

I do 5-10 tags per post. I use less searched for long tails of my keywords. Those tag pages can bring in some decent traffic on their own.

I would caution against using too many because it can be interpreted as being lists of keywords, which is against Google's webmaster guidelines.

I use sometimes 100 tags. They are really important. Forget the ones underestimating the power of tags and limiting its number to 2-10. I assure you that 20-30 is pure OK.

number of tags is not as important as their proper use, use a tag only if u think that is suitable to your post

my autoblog is running fine(touchwood) for more thn 6 months now, with auto tagging plugin, which tags around 10-15 tags per post...
periodically i see(site:site.com), google deindex some of my tags, may be ones that are irrelevant...

In fact without tags my website would receive 50% less traffic!

i have a blog of a client with just pictures and about 100 post. all posts have about the SAME 30 tags and the site are ranking very well in the kws i choose.
i think the competition its mandatory in that case
