Mini authority site or several niche site?

I'm facing a problem doing the keyword research for the niche I found.

I'm targeting a specific subject, and it has a lot of keywords around 2-3k exact match - local search per month, with pretty high CPC.

Those keywords are connected to each other (same niche).
So I though about making an authority website with different categories for those keywords.

But if I do so, those keywords won't be in the domain name. So it will be harder for SEO, isn't it?


What do you think? small authority website or a lot of niche website?

Is 2-3k exact match per month enough to make a niche site?

Any advice, any experience?

Authority site all day. Matt Cutts has said several times, even in the last few months, that Google is going to give less weight to keyword domains. Evolution of internet marketing: you need to be developing a presence, not a rank. Something that will be consistent and actually worth something long term.

I say more niche websites. Spread you changes for success and failure.
If you run just one website it either is going to succeed or fail.

I second authority website. Micro niche sites are good to rank quickly and make fast cash, but there's a good chance you'll be deindexed eventually. Authority websites for long-term revenue. Personally I do both.

The keywords will be in the domain name.. domian.com/keyword article title.

Authority sites have draw backs..

If it is full of poor content it becomes a content farm and you will be slapped.
Inner pages take longer to rank.
all of your eggs are in one basket.
Harder to maintain.

However done right and your laughing.

Do both and spread your risk. An bigger site with in time bring you in a decent amount of money and it will be easier to manage a few domains.

But consider the risk if/when Mr. G make a change or give you a penalty for whatever reason. Then is it nice still have some small niche sites to keep the money coming.

Google is always going to try to hammer artificially optimized sites, be they optimized for ranking or for authority. There is no magic way to engineer a site that is guaranteed to never be subject to G's review or latest algo adjustment. Just as there was a move to de-emphasize rank, there will be a move in the future to de-emphasize authority, based on G noticing people have found ways to simulate it artificially.

If you are doing WH, just keep creating sites that make money (upfront at least), that don't obviously game Google or look made for Adsense. Or if doing BH SEO or putting up BH sites that don't rely on Google, you shouldn't even care about G's shifting criteria.

Check if you have an affiliate product lined up and what the adsense CPC is, 2-3k is more than enough if there is a market.
