[Method] $750+ per month with eBay; no investment

How did you handle it when the books were out of stock?
When price changes is easy as you can simply take a small loss on one trade and then change the listing ASAP but when the book is out of stock seems like it would be a pretty significant problem...

You could just refund the buyer their money and tell them that you're really sorry but the stock just ran out. People usually even give good feedback if your fast enough.

Did you have the book shipped directly to the customer or to you first, and then you shipped it to the customer? Taking up to 30 days to receive the book just from the supplier, I would tend to think you would have a lot of customers complaining to paypal for non-receipt of merchandise. Did you have any problems with this?

Books were shipped directly to the customer. The only issue I had, was in the last week of selling books, when there was problems with international postage which caused huge delays to Australia. However, even then, in two months I only ever had two or three messages asking when they will receive their book. I had a LOT of feedback claiming that delivery was extremely fast, product was perfect etc.

So if you had the book shipped directly to the customer, I assume the order form let you specify the shipping address for each book. It would be very easy of course for the supplier to see that you were selling books to other customers. Am I missing something here?

And since they let you ship all these books to different people and different addresses, I would tend to think they were looking the other way and would probably not stop you, cause you were selling books for them. Seems stupid to me for them to make that against their TOS, since they are getting the price they want for the books... although I do see they have an affiliate program...

Only pitfall I can see with this, is adhereing to local country regulations on online selling.

In the UK we have a regulation called the Distance Selling Regulations, providing every consumer their right to return pretty much any item (unless custom made, and some other small exceptions), within 7 days of receipt, for a full refund including postage costs. You are not allowed to charge re-stocking fee's.

I'm unsure if other countries have the same, however if you sold a book and the client wanted to return it, you could find yourself out of pocket, as they would need to return to you, then you would have to return to the company, within the returns period. Plus you got postage costs to consider aswell.

Could try to do it with digital products too if there is something with enough demand which people would search ebay for.

Does bookdepository provide any kind of tracking? If not, I could see problems with customers claiming non-receipt, and if you can't provide online tracking, then paypal will refund the customer, and they will still get the book... Probably won't happen that much though, booklover's love their books! Tracking is essential though, otherwise anyone could claim non-receipt without proof of delivery.

I have a couple question tho
1/do you have any trouble with Paypal by using this method ?
I heard that paypal didnt like dropshipping at all and I read somewhere in this forum that they may hold your money if you do dropshipping
2/ So when you order the book from bookdepository.co.uk, do you use the money from the Ebay buyer or you use your own money to pay for it ?
Thank You

this method only works for a few weeks, since the seller also sees the logo and invoice of book depository - why should they buy from u again if they can get it cheaper!?

but still nice method!

good method but what happens when your 100 or even 1000+ listings dont sell? youll just get raped with listing and relisting fees

maybe i should just start up an ecommerce store that lists all books via the API and SEO the sheet out of it. but then again amazon would be my biggest competitor. fail. :(

Same question.

Also, you can sell more than 10+ books per month even if you got a new account?

Another version of this method is drop shipping books from Amazon to your eBay buyer. This actually happened to me and I figured out the method.

1) Get an Amazon Prime account (free for students if you have or can get a .edu email address)
2) List books on eBay that you can drop ship from Amazon. Mark up the price 0.50c to a dollar. Use an eBay calculator to figure out how much profit you can make.
3) Set your eBay shipping price at 4.99.
4) Complete orders using the free shipping provided by Amazon.
5) Collect your $$$

Extra tip: what caught my eye on ebay was the seller said free upgraded 2 day shipping. 2 day shipping compared to media mail (5+ days) was an easy choice.

That's a pretty nice method.
I'm about to try it but I've got some questions before:

- How many books you sell per day and how many listing have you made?
- Also, what are the books you listed? The best sellers (I guess there are a lot of people selling them) or the books that are not very known?
- Can I sell more than 10 books per month if my account is new?
- What's the listing price (with the buy now button) for a book?

Thanks. :)
