As far as individual content lockers go, I know a few sites that offer it for my niche, but I have not had much experience in using one like this. My question is probably answered in your book, but I am curious about using it to promote offers that are not necessarily for my niche. For example, if I did tv series, I know lots of companies do not allow tv series so it is limited for content blockers for dollarade and leadbolt. But for other affiliate companies, they do not allow tv series, so how exactly would this work for me? I am assuming by blanking the referrer... but how does the affiliate company view that?

I hope that question makes sense. I tried to make it very general in case anyone else has a similar question. Thanks

(By the way, saw one of your lockers when I was playing around doing some research online, I could tell because the popups on the mouseover on the links was identical :P )

Hi, i have some questions regarding the functionalities of Content Locker pro.

If i want to use this content locker with a facebook "like" button, how can i setup it to know that user actually clicked "like" button?

Is there any way to put a form (name and email submit) from any cpa company on it? How can i setup it to know that user actually filled the form?

I read all the replies here, sorry if i missed the anwsers for these questions.

Best Regards

Lol, you'll be seeing a lot more of them, savvy pubs are jumping all over this :)

On to your question, which is pretty cool, and interesting to most others...
When it comes to content locking, there are a few things going on. In general, advertisers expect some value for their money, so, if they're advertising auto insurance, and paying $7 to $15 per lead, at the very least they're expecting that lead to be actively seeking insurance. So, if publishers are looking to keep advertisers happy, it's conversions on the backend which count. However, there is value in every surfer on the net - not because some guy would like to watch or download the latest episode of his favorite show, does that mean he doesn't have an auto, and there isn't a chance that he'd be keen to get a decent quote.
A completely separate issue is the legalities of displayed content - there are copyright issues on many things, including blockbuster TV shows and, if advertiser's offers are displayed in lockers over content which is not legal, they, or the networks they're using, could be held responsible. Hence, networks stating they don't "like" or approve of, TV Show sites.
Nevertheless, this is BHW, and people will do what they're going to do, everyone has to evaluate their own willingness to comply with networks' or advertisers' TOS, or otherwise.
It is true to say that, by using our referer blanking feature, networks will never know you are locking a TV Show site, nor indeed, will they know what any of the content you lock is but, for obvious reasons, we cannot actively condone that you set out to commit any wrongdoing.
That said, this is a 3-way equation between advertisers, networks and publishers, and publishers are not, by a long stretch of the imagination, the only ones guilty of wrongdoing, let's not forget that. Networks AND advertisers will steal campaigns given the tiniest opportunity, not to mention claiming that leads didn't complete offers, and thus not paying (commonly known as scrubbing or shaving), or even just plain disappearing with the publisher's money, never to be seen again (well, under THAT name, anyway!).
So, from our point of view, a Publisher has every right to protect their proprietary business data and most have already learned the need for this the hard way. This is the reason we provide the referer blanking feature. You are entitled to not disclose your sources but, if you wish to get somewhere in this industry, you "should" make every effort to drive quality traffic, which will result in conversions on the backend for advertisers.

Mentioning in your lockers that it would benefit you and "your sponsors" if your visitors chose an offer which genuinely appealed to them, and offering a wide variety of offers to choose from, will go a long way towards achieving this. Content Lock Pro provides you with the means to do that, and protect your data, as it is universal, and self-hosted :)

CLP does come with a visual editor, which will accept any code or markup. However, if your sole requirement was to use, and track, FB "Like" buttons then, honestly, there are scripts designed for exactly that function, which are much better suited for it.
As to forms, again, you could include iframed "slices" of a CPA offer, but it's MUCH easier to just place the link for the offer, let them click it, and complete it, and then gain access to whatever you were locking, which they were seeking. If you don't have your own content to lock, lock someone else's, and drive traffic to it :)

To the part of your question which asks how to set it up so you know the user actually completed the form/offer, that is exactly what CLP has been designed to do. It supports postbacks, which are "pings" from a network when an offer is completed, and, when set to postback unlocking, which it is, by default, it does not unlock until that call is received, signifying not only that the user actually completed the offer, but also that you are getting credited for it :D

HTH

I tried the content locker pro its awesome.
covers everything i need. i really like it.
i just hope visitors will be nicer & fill the offers when they see them... or i gotta choice a sexy theme for them to like it more lol

Appreciate that, and fully understand the basics. But if i were to send a good amount of traffic that converts, lets say 8% towards that niche (utilizing it something that is clearly what the advertisers say not to do (in this example, tv shows), dont' they see the "blank referrer" as an obvious workaround? I guess what I would like some clarity on is if I put a blank referrer in, wouldnt the affiliate company just laugh and say "denied" when it comes time to payout? Now I am sure that they could do this, but does it happen often? Otherwise, what would be the point of customizing the locker? I am sure there are a few other ideas to monetize such as "get this free item if you do this..." and then have either an item that you have or something that you have proprietary rights too... but in that case I dont see why I would need to blank the referrer.

I am definitely interested in something like this if it suits my needs, just not sure if I can get a way with blackhat stuff like that.

And also, if I understand correctly, I could put a blocker on another site, but really, it is not another site I am putting the blocker on, but rather a "copy" of what that page looks like. If I am right in that assumption, once the offer has been done, what page shows up when the locker disappears and where does the user go? Can I send them to any page I would like?

Or how about a double locker... for example, I put this code on my site.... once they complete this offer, what is underneath (and now appears), could I have say, leadbolt locker that says something like "oops, looks like it didnt go thru" and have leadbolts locker underneath to try to do a double survey conversion (:P )

Lol, you guys are really making me put my thinking cap on tonight ;)

Ok, bit by bit...
There are a multitude of legitimate, whitehat, reasons for blanking your referers, not least of which is what I mentioned earlier about networks and/or advertisers stealing campaigns or traffic sources. Picture this, you spend a couple of hundred dollars on a PPC Search campaign. Throughout, you work your nuts off to analyze, tweak, split-test, re-analyze, re-tweak, until you slowly haul your CTR from a paltry 0.0004% to an excellent 17%. In order to track and tweak, you pass keyword information through to your networks via the referers. All of a sudden, a couple of days later, the campaign you so lovingly nourished bombs - the CPC has risen from the 5cents you were paying, to around 60 cents, and the CTR has plummeted back down to 2.5%.
Picture another scenario: you have made some cash, and are ready to "go it the WH way", so you make a serious investment in some Media Buys, and it turns out you hit a website that is sending high quality traffic and conversions to your campaigns (of course, this is a good few thousand dollars into things, again, testing, tweaking, searching, working HARD), but, suddenly, thanks to this site, your ROI is 120% :) Excellent! But, the next day, this site owner says he has no more available ad space, or raises the price massively, and your ROI plummets. But, you browse the site, and he's carrying the same banners you were displaying, lots of them, so "someone's" doing well out of your work. Now, bearing in mind you weren't blanking referers, so your network and/or advertiser knew exactly which site was producing this quality traffic, what do YOU think happened?
The "guru's" may not be in the habit of telling you this, but any publisher worth his salt is blanking his referers, the last thing he wants to do in the world is share all that precious, hard-earned data!
Now, how you, in particular, manage to get that across to your networks and AMs, is up to you, but let me tell you this - on 98% of CPA Networks, their top Publishers (those who, between them, earn 85% of the CPA Network's total earnings) are blanking their referers.
It's been said many, many times before on BHW - you have to treat IM as a business, present yourself as a serious business person, become a company or a corporation, if you can, make yourself a business website, nothing fancy, just something that "looks" professional, and gets across that you mean business, and you'll rock the world. Another interesting fact, well-known to Networks, over 80% of Affiliate fraud comes from individuals, so they treat business publishers accordingly.
It also helps to find out as much as you can about the networks you're thinking of working with, and the AMs you may be allocated. There are plenty of AMs who will accept some "bending" of the rules, as long as you're upfront about it with them. Let's face it, the money is in the traffic, and they "know" what we all know - a large majority of internet surfers are actively seeking all the WH no-no's (porn, free movies, tv shows or music, downloads, celebrity gossip, etc). It may not be what advertisers want, but it's the way it is. Do you really think they don't want the business and revenue? Be professional about it, and you'll almost get away with murder!

Locking other sites - what you are actually doing is iframing another site, like we did with CB in our demo. If a user completes an offer and the locker is removed for them, well, they're on CB. CLP does not currently redirect visitors to a different location on removal of the locker although, if requested by our users, it will be done pretty soon.

Double locking - hmmm, you are concerned about networks and advertisers, both of whom have been shafting publishers for years and yet, when it comes to the poor consumer (sorry, your treasured visitor, lol), you're quite happy to make him jump through hoops and then, when he lands, ask him to keep jumping some more??? Shame on you ;)
It is, however, something that can be done, and quite easily at that. You don't even need Leadbolt's locker - just create two lockers with CLP, call them both, but set a tease-timer delay on the 2nd one, or use a setTimeout parameter in the call to the second one. But, by God, surfers are going to start to actively HATE IMers, lol

Anyway, forgive me, when it gets very late in my part of the world (or early, depends how you look at it), my sense of humor becomes a little bit devilish ;)

One last thing, don't forget we have already "pre-sold" you as decent, high-flying pubs to a number of networks, and they're waiting for you to join them. They know you'll be content locking, and they WANT your business. Why do you think all the Gateway Networks have such a large publisher base?

Can you put a content locker on a FB Fan Page? If so that would be really handy.

FB has iframe-breaker code on it, so you can't directly iframe it.... but you can create a facsimile of the page ;)

Anyone know a working anti-iframe-breaker code?

To all our buyers:

The Subid video is up in our Resources section (link is on the last page of your User Manual).

Thanks for all the sales, enjoy!

Ha-Ha - you really lost me on the iframe-breaker code stuff!

What if I setup a FB Fan Page using a WP plugin I have for iframing a new Fan Page. I control the iframe code and host it so shouldn't I be able to add a content locker to the site?

This looks really good and was pumped BUT this would have rocked even more if it had a FAKE the referrer instead of blank the referrer.

If you can give me a valid excuse that I can give my IM for blanking my leads I'm all ears:) and yes I have read your long post.

Faking referrer is in the pipeline for a future update.

Regarding blanking referrer, I just tell my AMs I have an in house tracking system that does it automatically to protect our campaigns. I've been paid out $xx,xxx using this. All buyers have access to networks we recommend that are fine with this traffic. Ultimately, as long as the traffic converts for the advertiser, you shouldn't have any issues.

thanks for the info. I have some great offers with a cpa company that doesn't allow incent let alone a movie site. will try this soon

Emailed you, let me know if still stuck.

For others, if visiting your installation location produces the error message that your directory "requires the ionCube PHP Loader to be installed", then please visit the link provided in that message.
It takes you to the IONCube site, where, in the 2nd paragraph, titled "Loader Wizard" there is a zip and a tgz link (they only say zip and tgz, nothing else).
Download either of these, extract, and follow the instructions in the Readme.txt file. 3 minutes later, IONCube will be running happily on your server :)

been trying to get this working last 4 hrs now.. its saying

licence is not valid ... which it is. (just bought it today).

do you include any monetization guide as a bonus with the purchase ?
