I wouldn't worry about this too much...

The big news-channels do it all the time.
They have scripts ready for recurring disasters like VIP deaths, hurricane seasons, etc.

And they are making big bucks with being the 1st going live with it...

The issue is that probably 90% people do not know that... Posting method like this will make them think "WTF, thats outrageous", but they do not know Newspapers are doing this since long years. Thanks BlackHit for stepping by

This is a nice method, but I don't think I'll do it. To much money to risk if you buy many domains. Nothing for a newbie like me

Just buy 2-3 domains for something that have to happen and redirect them to Blogspot

This method's been around for sometime.

A small twist of it would be to buy domains related to events that happen every year and rank for it.

Events like the london olympics, or a world cup, or a super bowl even for example.

One caveat with these stuff is that if you bet on movies or other such stuff you can end up with copyright infringements and your domain will invariably be seized.

I'm personally into the creating sites for events niche.

Problem with events is that they get loadz of competition = less clicks for you. I would focus on something not event related...
