Hey everyone..firstly happy mother's day for all moms here!

I have an issue that I would like to know your inputs. I have 3 keywords that I'm trying to target for Google in my country, not Google.com .

These keywords are in English and I don't need them ranked for Google.com but more to my country, example Google.com.fr . Competition wise I guess will be lower, but how do I make sure it's ranked top-10 if someone searches the keyword (from my country)?

Any trick to make sure it's ranking for searches from Google.com.fr not Google.com? Not asking how to rank but trick to make that happen for local searches.

Thank you :)

I second LukaB, hosting IP and domain extension help a lot with country specific SEO

singup google business local fr country
create sub blog fr language
main site english

When I want to rank for a keyword in a local search engine, I buy a domain with that same extension :)

Hello there,
the domain LTD is important but not that much.

The MOST important is where your website hosted.
In your case if you are trying to rank in google.fr get a webhosting from France.

Why the LTD is not that important? Try to host .fr domain in usa and you will find out. Thats why google have the radio button when you search to display pages only from France(for example).

Of course the best would be .fr domain on french hosting, But I would say that I did a lot of .coms/.nets/.orgs to rank in local google with just the right hosting provider.

Regards

Buy a domain with the country extension and hosting IN the country you're trying to target.

After all the above reqirements are complete.......get backlinks and citations from sites in ur country with same extensions

The procedure for site promotion is same for all sites. If you want to promote in France sites, then search in google.co.fr.Its not a problem if the key word is in English.Just create the links in .fr sites. While downloading you can translate it in English and post there.Iit will automatically converted to French after posting.

Hey guys thanks a lot for all your input! Getting local domain extension is great, but what if I want to rank let's say 10 keywords, can I submit articles to ezinearticles and get them ranked like this?

Or maybe blogger, and then submit to Google Webmaster Tool and target settings my country?

I have found the hosting country not to be too big a deal although I guess it helps. The big two for me are the .co.xx domain and then build lots of links from .co.xx domains...If it's bricks and mortar business a google business listing is good for many big keywords too.

Make sure that you have in the about us section on site that you have the words... FRANCE in them.

you want to tell the G that you are in france, that way it will know.. simple yes... does it work... yes.

Think of the G-bot as a person who is coming to your site, and wondering how to classify you.. are you talking about phones? well this site must be about phones... are you talking about your country of origin.. well thats where you must be then, is there a contact us that has a french address... well you must be in france.. oooo do you actually tell it what suburb of what town you're in... well thats where you must be then.

Hosting it in FR will only get you so far.

EG. Client host's in the US fanks in the .AU not problem.

If you can add a Google map to the site with the 'store locations' or some such, your going to do well.
