They do try to charge your card for something, I keep a card with less than a dollar in for things like this, and it got declined. Go Figure.

Actually just like almost any other free offer on the internet that ask you for a credit card for validation, they check ass see if you have the money in the account to be able to handle that purchase. What they do is they ask their merchant to do a "check" on the card to see if it has enough funds to handle at least 1st month's payment. They do not charge the card only check it to make sure that they will be able to charge it just in case..... Some company's just check for 1cent to make sure the card is active, others check for a whole months payment others for a years payment. All depends on what the company wants to do.
