Can Backlinking be done for youtube videos?

Definitely. I've backlinked plenty of them to page 1. If you re-edit the same video to be a different length, you can then submit the same/different video to metacafe, backlink them both and have both video slots on Page 1: your YT video and your metacafe video.
 
shooting links at your YT videos is a very effective strategy because you are in a sense 'borrowing" the authority site status of YT...so it is much easier to make these videos rank in Google than having a page on your own site with the same video rank.

Just be sure your videos have your domain displayed throughout if possible so you can get some traffic from the rankings. I usually tell people what I want them to do at the end of my videos...works well.
 
You can also use video submission software such as traffic geyser or video post robot to get alot of backlinks. using this kind of software is especially effective for targeting long tail keywords with less than 50K competing pages in Google.
 
Yes. I have seen youtube videos ranking for "buy viagra" and ringtone keywords because of spammed backlinks.
 
Btw, i have a question ( i guess its stupid ). I cant anchor text on youtube, right? Its not about 2tier linkwheel, its all about +1 slot on SERP, right?

External links on YT (eg. on your profile page) use some funny redirect (I believe it's a 304 from memory) and so it's unclear whether they pass link juice. However they sometimes still show up as backlinks in Yahoo Site Explorer. So basically it's not clear if YT links count as backlinks or not.
 
External links on the Channel page to your website are do follow and not using a redirect. And the relation of the URL: rel="me" .

Links in video's are nofollow. But yes, it's possible to backlink your youtube video's to create higher rankings of that video in Youtube as well in the Google SERPS.
 
Yes i talk about pages like that. I see a hard follow link on that page. If i throw that page through my reprocial checker it also finds that backlink :)
 
Also the backlinks are counted in the Yahoo Site Explorer. I can show you an example on skype if you like.
 
Indeed, the redirect only applies with javascript turned on.
 
Yeah, I checked myself and the back links did count in Yahoo Site Explorer.
 
It does work, but never try to rank a keyword with 'video' in it. I just learnt that this word is ignored by youtube and google video. I found it very easy to boost a video with some links, it has now started appearing on google standard search too.
 
Sure you can! Bookmark them and do some decent forum profiles. That should do the trick :D
 
Yup you can, but whether it works well depends a lot on how popular your video is, and whether it clearly demonstrates the product you're trying to market. I don't see how a youtube video will work with a backlink to a forum or a blog though. The two types of content just don't seem to click.
