Buying Stocks Online - Need Advise

I use interactive broker (IB). Cheap rate, you can buy stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc.(10k minimum deposit) Cheapest rate I ever seen. The work station sucks, so I prefer to call them to place a bid. Their news streak sucks too. Rly its just the fees that is interesting with them. You wiull be abble to find a lot of news/price module to work with IB workstation. and dont trade forex lol. use yahoo finance for bonds price, very useful for me.

I use ShareBuilder. You can set up automatic investing, and it will invest every month or week for you on auto pilot. It's great for beginners, and their commission on purchases is like 4 bucks, like 9.99 to sell or trade.

LOL And your point is? Do you realize what it takes to trade forex and actually be succesful? You must be one of the noobs who buys forex software on the net thinking your going to get rich.

How the hell do you know??
And just because its hard, does that mean you shouldn't do it??
People like you give forex a bad name? Have you lost money on the forex market? Is that why your against it? Cos the forex market has been good to me!

Id never ever ever buy a forex software, i do not trust them! I prefer to use basic technical analysis, using the RSI, MACD and bollinger bands on several different time frames .. That is easy to do!! Keep an eye on the forex calender and on the latest economical news, and you can make steady profits by JUST using those tools, and dont even try to deny that because it work!

Throw in some pivot points, understand the importance of resistance and support, and you have a pretty strong forex strategy!!

OP, dont let this guy put you off forex .. i know you want to trade stocks, but dont disregard forex as an option.

Hello,

I would go to a real bank to buy stocks online is very risky ; )

Take a look at www/shareworld/co/uk - you can't trade shares with them, but you will get some good information there (try the forums).

Trade in a simulation is a good way to learn the ropes. Make your fortune with businesses and internet marketing and set aside play/entertainment money and trade stocks with that.

Yep, like others I use/recommend Interactive Brokers, but I think you need $10-15k deposit... You also need a min $25k in order to day trade stocks (look up "pattern day trader" rule)... Other brokers that are good for day trading stocks are lightspeed, speedtrader. Used to use Thinkorswim but they were sold to TD Ameritrade so not sure how good they are now.

There are prop trading brokers out there that let you bypass the PDT rule, so if you have less than $25k and want to day trade, this may be an option.

No PDT rule for forex/futures.

I use scottrade. They have low commission of 7 dollars a trade. I like them a lot. I have a joint account with them and 2 ira accounts . They don't even charge a yearly fee to have a ira account.

I use Zecco, I am pretty sure they are the cheapest or one of the cheapest commission under $5. No fees etc, but lacking in features compared to some of the more expensive options like Etrade

I like Scottrade too, mainly because it's got great research tools and a pretty intuitive interface. Even if I ramped up my trading, I'd keep the account open for the research to go along with a new <$5 commission account.

Agreed. Owned by INGdirect, integrates easily with their online deposit accounts.

I agree trading is risky and also very nerve racking. I traded options for a while... It was intense
How is it risky online, I don't know what your saying??

I have an account with Option Express because they don't require large upfront starting money

I would start with trading fake money first to get a feel of the prices. Your adrenaline will flow as if it was real money. I practice traded with stockcharts.com before diving in.

I'm not sure if they still do the competition trading there though

Very good advice here. Anyone know of a forum for stocks that people exchange advice and tactics? That would be awesome!

TD Ameritrade offers a great platform with real time info. Seeking alpha is a good website with user generated posts on stocks and the market....

Scottrade is my go to website to invest. Also, I've always liked penny stocks. If you can get some reliable picks, you're pretty much going to profit at least in the long run. I use birdgangstocks caum personally, but there are tons of others.

For some reason, this site screams scam or stay away... How long have you been a subscriber and how are their picks?

I use Muriel Siebert.

My portfolio, which is heavily weighted toward oil and natural gas, hasn't gone anywhere in the last two years. In my opinion, the market won't move considerably in either direction until after the presidential election.
