Having a static page on home or the conventional list of blog posts?

I'm using a generic theme from wordpress's site for the time being. Content is king for now, I'm not going to worry about the look too much for the time being!

I don't have a static home page at the moment, I'm going to try simply blog posting. If I find it to be ineffective, I will move all my posts to a subdirectory site.com/blog/ and carry on with static pages having more "informative" information whilst the blog has news or reviews maybe. We will see!!

That wouldn't be necessary. Just create a new Page to be shown on your site's home, go to Settings -> Reading and set it as front page. Also create another page called "Blog" and set it as Posts page.

what method did you use to find your micro niche keyword?

Just playing around with google keyword tools, seeing what's there. Basically, just think of something you might use, search for it, find that it is very competitive but see a list of loads of other stuff, try those, search, see new keywords. Order them according to CPC, then skim through the list and look for the ones with high CPC and high ish search volume >1000. Make sure you tick exact and untick broad.

Next, google the term, see what's floating around, and check if the exact match domain exists.

Panda (google) is actively on the hunt to deindex microniche sites. Someone had more than 2,000 of them taken down and the original guy Xfactor who started the trend had his empire smashed too. You are setting yourself up for a lot of work, then frustration when they get taken down.

Xfactor already has moved to authority sites and there is a guide from him here on bhw on how to do that. Its a better strategy to give google what they want.

What do you consider an authority site? I've got a more legit, informative site on the go too. That's on the first page in the UK for my keyword. Needs much more work, but thinking that I have the knowledge in the area to make it an authority site.

Site was indexed during the day (site:website.com found one page) but now it's not. Weird. Presume its some google algo shit.

Added a second post, still on my microniche. No backlink or article directory submissions yet.
