Writing quality content is certainly a viable method of making $100 or so a day; I guess it's all about the work ethic. As someone who enjoys writing, it gets frustrating writing in niches in which I have little interest vested. I still do it from time to time to pick up extra cash for software or Fiverr services, but I'm not trying to ruin something that I actually enjoy.

I have a knack for writing good articles for clients and have a few satisfied customers just form fiverr alone over the past few weeks, so I am interested in your success story.

Now I have a client who really likes my articles and wants a long term 3 article per day agreement, but the problem is I am already bored with this, probably because I am selling myself too cheap.

I am doing 3 x 450 word hand written quality keyword targetted articles for $5. I should probably be charging double or three times that as it is taking approx. 30 minutes per article, so that means I'm working for less than $5 an hour.

I mean it's great having your services in demand, but the ROI seems a bit low....?

If you hit up elance you'll find higher paying jobs. You can charge insane amounts there if you're a native English speaker.

To reemphasize my points think about this: The main purpose of writing unique articles is to stand out as unique in the eyes of search engine when you publish this articles in your website.
Secondly your article should be able to deliver reasonable visitors to your website if posted in the article directories.

So think about this analogy: There are two writers here one who writes informative articles with no grammatical errors and in the best flow but the article does not attract clicks
A second writer who writes an article that is grammatical right no errors and with good flow that is accompanied by an interesting tone that persuades the reader to click though.

Who brings business to the client?

The second writer is highly priced definitely! Just think about this I once saw an article in EZA that had 400000 views within a month of publishing. Considering EZA highly discourages PPV. Whoever wrote such an article should be able to get a fat cheque.

I can write very well, and I do my keyword research and all, and even sometimes write more than 1,000 word articles that are completely optimized for my keywords, as quality is very important to me... that's the thing though, they're MY keywords. I can't help but feel that if I write for somebody else I'll get burned out almost immediately, but for the past few nights I've been pounding out 1,200 word posts for my website, because it's for my own progress, not somebody else's.

If it's your passion, and you can get happiness AND money from it, then that's great for you, and I hope you all the profits in the world at it!

let me tell you that my monetary compensation for producing quality articles is not my drive but the smile of a satisfied buyer who even does not know me but enjoys my effort. Am happy to wake up @ day and know some people somewhere regard me highly. it is my joy and my satisfaction. If i was after chasing the top dollar I would be doing other things.

As I said earlier I write articles for clients and they can post them anywhere for their own purposes the only place i have tried to commercialize my articles is on the Hubs and Squidoo Am yet to record significant progress from there. I hope that helps
