My 2nd listing on flippa - Lesson learned

Hi guys,

I've just sold my 2nd website on flippa. Here is the URL

Expense:
- $9.9 bought on ebay
- $40 for featured listing
- $5 success fee
- $19 listing fee

Sold at $30

TOTAL PROFIT
= 30 - 19 - 40 - 9.9 - 5 = -$43.9

I've learned that it's better to build site with original content and rank it then sell than doing like this. Maybe it's just my personal experience or I'm just a starter.

To be very honest im not sure we can make real money with flipping new sites anymore. There were days when I was making $200-300 per site I was selling but now seems most people won't buy new sites that easily anymore.

Problem is we need money to make a listing as well.

Yeah..bad idea man.

I just started flipping new sites, and so far its going good. I'm getting around $50-$300 for new sites, depending on how much time I put into them.

Basically, don't buy them off ebay, make them yourself using some premium wordpress theme or something.

Your description is poor as well. Look at some other peoples listings and copy them, obviously not exact copy.

I am in almost the same predicament bud, except I just starting building the site-its for a very, very, very, specific niche. Probably wont work but hey, you gotta gamble right?

You should definitely build the sites yourself. Wordpress and Joomla are simple-setup, plug and play type of things. Plus, you could always go on fiverr and get someone there to do a nice custom header for you to just upload into wp or whichever you use. A website's header is really the make or break feature of a website. If that is custom and even decent looking, visitors are subconsciously pleased with the originality, and therefore open their wallets easier-or get click-happy.

Of course, adsense placements are the second most important aspect of a "good" site. You could do this yourself and save money-or use it to get your auction better placement. Ebay is retarded. Don't buy sites there-vintage tshirts maybe, but not websites.

Sleinad is right. The auction description is poor. List all site specifics-the more, the better. Play to their dreams-tell them you have similiar quality websites in other niches making $200-500 a month each! They will start thinking about what kind of car they're going to buy. Make sure they know the POTENTIAL to bank good money of the site.

Don't give up man-tweak it and hit it again.(sounded like a drug reference lol) I've been dabbling with internet marketing for 10 years-but I only NOW began making consistent money from the web.(smh:hmpf If you quit now it means that you half-assed it, believe me I know. Good Luck!

Just go around some of the website that have 'just ended', and filter out only the new sites. You can go through them all and will see all the techniques they use to get people to buy their sites. Its not hard, you just got to make a site with a descent idea and a good listing.

Some of the people have like 5 sites selling a day, and they use the same descriptions, but if you have time, change them around as much as possible.

oh make sure you have a pretty good reputation on flippa. one way is to buy a new site, ask for the seller to give you a feedback, then xrummer that site and sell it. say something like, whatever i touch becomes a gold mine and am here to sell it to you. show how you got it from nothing to something.
i also noticed this guys selling bookmarking sites like hot cakes. those site always have pr 1 or higher and are only maybe 2 months old and they sell like hot cakes.

IMO, you really need good sales copy to sell your
sites for decent prices.

Check out other listings to see what people say, but
of course, you're right and it's far better to sell sites
that actually have something on them and that are
making money.

But flipping still makes money, that's for sure.
