using squidoo to earn income?

This is probably a newbie question but here it goes.

has anyone tried the stratagy of making squidoo lens and directing traffic straight to the affiliate page? i have bumped into some squidoo pages like this. i was wondering if anyone has any experience doing this that they would like to share.

account ban? i guess sites like these hates affiliates huh. how about redirecting them to an amazon product. commission is low but would that lead to a ban as well?

It's better to lead a Squidoo lens to a landing page or blog post (instead of an affiliate redirect to the sales page). I've found this more effective.

you can put affiliate links directly in squidoo no problem at all - I have some lenses with loads of clickbank aff links and they rank very nicely.

squidoo is a great tool. easy to use, gets indexed quick, dont have to wait to be approved and ranks well. youve got to love it.

I made a tutorial on how to make money with an adult dating affiliate program, there was no nudity, it got good response from the public, but was still banned because of what it related to.

They didn't ban my account, just the lens.

Squidoo is definately effective for affiliate marketing.

Subject matter seems to be more important than anything else on Squidoo. Also they tend to not pay as much attention to aged accounts.

Squidoo did get pretty hard on lens content that was transparently "spammy" in their eyes. They're thinking, how many articles on "the acne crisis," with links to an acne solution, do you need on their site anyway? Write good lens content that doesn't transparently push products or controversial links and you should be okay.

They didn't ban my account, just the lens.

Squidoo has some topics that it considers off limits, such as gambling. Their policing of this sucks. I had a lens on poker chips and poker chip tricks with no direct links to anything relating to gambling and got my lenes banned. I tried to point out to them this and that they were letting other direct affiliate lenses for online poker sites and I got no love. For a test I set up a lens for a fire poker and that got banned.

Moral, read their policies and maybe stay away from the fringes.

Squidoo will share some of their earnings from traffic but you won't make very much unless you get a lot of traffic, 1,000's of visits per month.

i just discovered the shrinkmylink and i got my articles aproved from other article sites. does the shortened link every expire? Or does this link will always be linked to your affiliate account so you can get credited?

Last year when I did a google search for a particular CB product I would find squidoo and hubpage lenses on the first page of google. Now, I can't find a single one. I also heard the google algorithm change last month demolished these web 2.0 properties. All I see now on google's first page are wordpress blogs.

Also bare in mind that google will only show a maximum of 3 results from any one website on its results page.

so before you write a lens do a search for how many other lenses are already targetting the keywords you plan to use. USe this query:

site:squidoo.cxm "keyword phrase your targetting"

if there arent any lenses for that phrase then your game on. if there are loads then forget it. this is the most important thing i have learnt about squidoo.

you can also adapt the google query for articlesbase, ezines etc...
