I just started a Wordpress local business directory.

Does anyone know for sure a formula to get each and every listing
on page one every time for Google yahoo and Bing???

I am using platinum SEO pack and Google XML sitemap and a filter so as to not ping on every edit just on new posts.

If anyone knows of a formula that works every time please share the info.
One more thing what is the best custom permalink setup for this?

Thanks
:)

Hey PlatinumPi4u

Thanks for the reply but the area we are in is for offline marketing, and since I am asking how to get local businesses on the first page of search engines, and local businesses are "offline" than I for 1 think I am asking in the right place.

I took your advice and asked a few others about this, and you said to post the answer here.
If anyone can add to this here to help me in my "offline" project
I would appreciate it. If not than all it looks like I have done here is answering my own question LOL for offline marketing in the offline marketing section :)

Heres the brief answer that FloFlo89 was kind enough to share with me/us:

Optimize title for local
Optimize meta descriptions for local
Optimize content for local

Perma links : name.com/name-of-the-post.html

Use wordpress all in one seo tools to optimze title and meta descriptions.

Get the blog indexed using facebook, twitter and bookmarking sites so it looks more naturally.

Get backlinks, if you can get baklinks from site's form your location and niche even better

:)

y = mx + b

Seriously, what do you mean by formula? You expect me to say:
position = backlinks * 0.54352
Or something?

Well to be honest I was asking for a marketing pro with SEO knowledge
to share some tips , tricks, or methods.
Not really an Einstein type of thing.
Just a method. I guess formula was a bad choice of words when I originally posted the request for help.
Someone who wanted to address this as a formula like yourself could have just said something like:

P1 = hard work on backlinks
p1 = Long tail keywords
p1 = Keyword research
P1 = I don't have a clue

Or I was at least expecting an answer along these lines;

Hire a pro

or

Google it newbie

Anyways thanks for looking over this post I desperately need help with.

If you have anything as far as a plan , method , a system , a way to ,
the best way to , seo scam , formula , (comma separated )

to get a local business to Google's first page everytime as so many internet marketing pros say "everytime"

I could use this help.

Thanks:D

The difficulty of getting the business directory to rank well for "each and every listing" will depend on what city you are in. If you're in NYC - you have a steep hill to climb. If you're in Wichita, KS - that's another story. A less frustrating route to take is to get the website to rank well when someone searches [CITY] Directory or [CITY] Business Directory. What you're essentially asking for is someone to give you advice on how to take each business in your directory and have it rank well in something like Google Places. That's a totally different situation that doesn't seem very realistic to me unless you're in a small town.

Good luck

Now this sheds new light on my whole situation and thanks so much for this answer Teeniegenie.
Let me just ask this one thing to see if this makes sense.

To get a local business "evertime" on page one as the pros say is easy with a website of the local business.

But to get every local business in my state wide or a multi city local business directory (which is what I put together)
would be impossible?

One more quick question:
Is Google places something someone can sell SEO services for to a local business ? or would that be illegal :eek:
Thanks was clicked for you dude.

It depends on your SEO abilities and your competition as to whether it will be "easy". Again, are you trying to rank in NYC or middle-of-nowhere Kansas?

No not impossible, but, depending on your competition, it could take quite a while. Remember this: PAGES rank in Google/Bing/Yahoo, NOT WEBSITES. You'd have to optimize and rank each page of your directory. That could be a tall task depending on how many business listings you have on the site.

No - it's not illegal to hire a consultant to help with SEO services, whether it's for Google Places or general organic rankings. If you are concerned with legal/illegal (and I think you're smart to be concerned about it) just review the terms and conditions of Google/Google Places/Bing/Yahoo and make sure you don't violate them.

One thing that is illegal with Google Places is writing fake reviews - don't do it. The FTC frowns on it...

Good luck

I think the answer is as simple as the question:

SEO - Search Engine Optimization.

:)

New Jersey Cities mostly northern New Jersey
Services like home improvements Doctors Accountants
etc. and after a simple directory submission try to upsell them a website or
optimize what they may already have.

For this I am using Wordpress and a plugin that can make each page optimized but I asked because I want to be able to do this for businesses everytime and worry that it may get sandboxed if to much tweeking or to many posts/listings are submitted and pinged or whatever.

Thanks for letting me know about Google places and the others.

The 1st thing you need to do is to see the guy who are doing it, analyse the site and you will see how many business he got on every category.
You need to start free submissions, try to add the max of businesses you can in each cat, you should have more info than the other one.
And of course, do seo, I reccomend "All in one SEO Pack", add the keywords, meta title and meta description for each post(business).
Regards
