Lets say as an example I had a choice to buy either "architecture.info" or "ar-chi-tec-ture.com", would the whole word but .info rank better with SERPs, or could I get away with the phonetic spelling .com?

Lets already assume I'm not going to get any type in traffic on either.

I am a bit allergic to .info sites as in my experience they rank much slower and get banned much faster.
Maybe it something just psychological but thats how I have experienced it.

But in this case I would instead try to do something else with an com address:
architecture-now.com
or anything like that.

the -'s don't matter however be sure that your domain name is not to close to your competitors or you might be sending them traffic

good advice guys.. Another quick question. Do hyphenated words create a Goooogle penalty? I know if my site is ar-chi-tec-ture.com and someone mistypes it, it will likely go to a competitor's site, but does big G care? Do the hypens remove the keyword?

I don't think google connect the word together.

ar-chi-tec-ture would be this keywords in googles eye: I believe this at least maybe not true.

ar
chi
tec
ture

So unless your trying to rank for each one of this then I don't see any value in this name.

Thanks Kandor, It's funny how much a person can know in one field and be such a n00b in the other.

Not really.

I give all my paper work of the company to an expert in that area, and let that company earn on me for the paper work.

And they hire my company for my services.

We can't be good at everything, but we can be good at what we do and concentrate on that area.

Thats how I see it.
