Hi,

1) So I'm thinking of getting Xrumer, and was considering doing a vps (dedicated seems a bit too ex). But instead of paying a monthly fee, I was thinking why not buy a new laptop specially for it? I have a 10mbps connection at home, used mainly by myself only.

Is it a good idea to buy a laptop for this? If so, what specs would you advise?

Just wondering why many people seem to be going vps/dedi instead of getting a new laptop/pc.

2) I also know I will also need updated lists for Xrumer to post to. Where can I get these? I was thinking I can create a list myself, perhaps using Scrapebox.

If you have decent internet connection(10mbit should be good enough) then buying a new laptop is a good idea.
Most people don't have good connection so thats why they buy VPS.

Another reason to go with VPS is for privacy reasons. Blasting with Xrumer can get you in trouble if you are leaking your own IP. Also, the bandwidth use can be huge. If neither of those are a concern for you, go with Laptop 100%.

I was of the impression that even when using VPS, it'd be better to use proxies, which I also intend to use when I use Xrumer on the laptop.

Yep, what he meant was that incase your IP was ever leaked somehow, (leaking proxy, proxy has XFORWARDEDFROM aka Transparent proxy) sometype of server misconfig, etc... that your VPS IP would be leaked and not your 'real' IP. That you would be much safer in blackhat/greyhat activities using a VPS.

But with your laptop, you can leak your true IP, even if using proxies.

VPs- easy to upgrade and always easy to reset etc.. + you can be doing whatever on your computer while vps is running in background possibly 24/7

Thanks for that.

I'll do more research into this and re-evaluate. Will also be looking into VPN as well, in case I go the laptop option.
