Do:
Start off targeting long tail keywords - you hit the long tail and then shorter keywords shall quickly follow and be easier to get

Don't:
Make more than 2 seo changes on site at once. Else you will never know which change you made affected positive or negative your ranking change next time your site is reindexed.

Jeevs : iv been going mad with searches, the problem is everyone has their own methods, and everyone seem to be right in their own way? so being said...which is the right way coz not everyone can be right?! surely theres a guideline....

The one thing you'll always find missed here is how to get your site ready for SEO. Before you do anything, get that bit right and the rest will be much much easier.

Index your site to 1 site? sorry mate i have no idea what you are talking about :)

An example of a long tail keyword for property would be

property available to buy in US

Shorter would be

property to buy in US

Shorter still would be

property in US
 
The biggest mistake in you can make SEO business (And every other business out there) is giving up.

I'd advise you not to give up no matter what the circumstances are. And whenever you need help, the people here on BHW are great :)

Thrz your answer buddy...you have to build your road for success by yourself...the methods work for some and doesn't work for other...you have to try n try n try until you find a method which is working for you...

Hello again Dribble.

My thought is that everyone is right and there is not ONE SINGLE person who does it right. SEO is something where you can see a path, but never see an exact answer.

Also another reason to why there never will be an exact answer is because Google is updating its algorithms very often, so yeah again everyone who can get a site to page 1 or better is doing their things right.

The whole point of SEO is to look as natural as possible to Google using black hat or white hat methds. As long as your site and SEo look natural and is consitent, you will be able to get #1 for any keyword you want. It's just a matter of time and efforts depending on the competition.
