I actually own a set of replicas and yeah they are pretty good, great "soundproofing", you wont hear any other noises other than Music. But nothing can beat the originals.

When the replica beats break, the customer complains to Monster Cable. Monster Cable asks for the code on the box, when they discover the code is not correct, they will go after the seller by shutting down their eBay account, and possibly involving law enforcement. DO NOT DO IT!

If someone bought some real beats headphones...and swapped them out for fakes...and took them back to the store...would the store know? Are they good enough in appearance to fool them? (aside from the serial numbers).

Now that's blackhat. Not scalable but if someone in theory did it a couple of times from a couple of stores it might make them quick dollar to do something else that's more scalable.

I know a guy that got pissed at Nintendo because they didn't cover warranty the DSi that he had...Nintendo tried to fuck him over claiming that it wasn't possible for the charge port to not charge without the user damaging it. He bought a new one....sliced the box open at the glued seem....took out the ds...and put a slab of stone in the box. Sealed it back up and returned it. Since the box appeared never opened....they accepted it. I would have been scared they might open it.

I'm pretty sure, providing you have a valid receipt, most stores would just give the item a quick physical check and refund you.

Walmart checked the numbers on my xbox 360 that I swapped. I had the ring of death on mine and it just ended the warranty. I bought a new one...swapped the guts from the new one and old one. Took the new one back....and they checked the serial. Worked like a charm.

I did not realize receipts had serial numbers attached. I thought it would just scan the UPC and that's what it would have and the UPC is not unique to each product.

If you swapped the whole thing then you would get caught. Interesting and good to know.
