VPS, What for?

So I got me a VPS from host gator, first time so I was all exited but... it seems like the more I learn about it the more questions come to mind.

Is there any SEO benefits to having a VPS, its wiered but the site I have hosted on my shared hosting with host gator loaded 3 times faster than the one on my VPS, same content.

Im not lazy to learn, but Im wondering is it worth the hassle?

uhmm, use it for mass mailing.
if there will be spam complaints after 3 or 4 days and your VPS will be shutdown, it's fine as long as you made a few sales. lol

VPS = around $30.
Sales = $100

Still you have $70 of profit

People generally use a VPS when they have resource intensive scripts that are causing slow load times on a shared server. A VPS gives you a guaranteed amount of server resources and your own operating system instance to configure / play around with.

You may be getting slower load times if the server you're on is slower than the shared server in general, or if the resources allocated are two low - eg. you could have been on a shared server with 32GB ram, five hard drives and few other sites on it with any real traffic. Your VPS could only be 512MB ram (you don't specify) or there could be another user on the VPS doing stuff that requires heavy disk thrashing and slows everything down. The shared server could also be running a highly tweaked OS whereas your VPS may be running a standard install.

If your shared server was running Linux and your VPS runs Windows then that would be another reason why it might be slower.

There's no SEO benefit apart from potentially faster loading times if you were previously on a slower shared server (although it sounds like you weren't).

The IP's are most likely given out in block format and so they will still be from the same C-class useless still lol

vps are often slower than shared hosting it really depends on who you're sharing it with. The real problem with a vps is high IO wait, often you'll have some idiot with a 1gb instance swapping out mysql all day long
