Had A Real Life Realization/Wake Up Call

By now, I'm sure 99.9% of you I don't know anymore. I haven't really regularly posted on the forum in two years and I've only visited a few times here and there.

Well lately I've just woke myself up and realized.. here I am, I am 23 years old, I've spent the last several years on and off World Of Warcraft, I'm single, and I haven't done anything IM related (excluding a terrible youtube show which is thankfully done with) in years. I've hopped around shitty jobs and put myself in a huge mess.

Well now, I have $5,000+ in hospital bills and it wasn't actually until just here lately I looked at myself and thought.. wtf are you doing? You're sitting here playing a video game which will in the end mean absolutely nothing.. all these hundreds of days of played time put into pixels doesn't translate into money.. it literally translates to nothing but time wasted. As for the hospital bills.. I would have saved myself all of that money had I just gone online to research my own symptoms...

I still live in Ohio, I'm single, and well past broke because of my own doing so I've been doing some thinking and I've had several "I want to get back into IM" moments in the past few years but this time I'm actually looking to get into it and do it right. I've done a little touching up on HTML and I really haven't done much reading around BHW yet. I see way too many new faces to even try to remember now.

So I'll leave off with these few questions:

#1 - What's the craze everyone is into now a days?
When I was on here, it used to be Ewhoring, Autoblogging, selling WSOs, Bum Marketing (for some) and Xrumer was non-stop talked about.

#2 - I want to learn FULLY (not some half-assed guides) HTML,CSS,Java,PHP,SQL
Are the dummies series good guides?

I currently have:
For Dummies Flash Professional CS5 and Flash Catalyst CS5 for Dummies
For Dummies HTML xHTML and CSS for Dummies 7th Edition
For Dummies Php and MySQL for Dummies 4th Edition

I'll get ahold of the Java book/series after I have a strong grip on these. As long as the Dummies series/guides are good.

For the books, check out head first series from o'reilly.

I find them the best starting point (and you can find them online if you don't have money to buy).

CPA is the easiest route. Check out the CPA forum and start slowly. When you find something that works, Duplicate. If you set the sites up so that you can change them all at once with editing just one or two files, bonus points.

Making money online isn't difficult, but overcoming laziness is. Particularly if you're 13-25 in the USA and weren't raised by your old-school grandparents (teaching hard work, value of a dollar, etc).

You've already made the first step. You had the "OMG what the heck am I doing to myself!" moment.

What you do with that anger/frustration/momentum is up to you.

Well if you're curious enough, I'll tell you my symptoms. I don't have a diagnosis because I've visited 3 different doctors with no valuable insight.

- One day 2/3, out of nowhere my heart started beating really hard and my chest went completely numb. This only lasted for a seconds.

- Immediately after that, for the next couple of weeks I had a lot of anxiety induced chest pains. A couple of times, I noticed if I lay down on my left side, my chest will go numb.. only the left side.

- I haven't seen a doctor since the ear/head symptoms started.

- Now for the past 4/5 days, I've had a loud ringing sound in either my left ear or right gear (it varies from each day) and if I don't rest my head on the back of a chair, I get really dizzy. If I'm standing up, it feels like I'm tilting, like the right side of my body is falling to the ground but the left side is standing tall and fine. I've labeled this down to Labrynthitis.

- Also since then.. I get constant muscle twitches (not spasms. there's no pain involved) in mostly my neck but it can be arms, legs, stomach. I also get this weird vibration sensation in my chest.. like a light on-going vibration.

One doctor said: It could be caffeine. I don't drink caffeine.. when I told him that, he recommended I see a family doctor if it keeps happening, didn't even offer a suggestion.

Second doctor: It could be acid reflux, but other than that see a specialist if you have more problems.

Third doctor: Sounds like a muscle spasm to me.

So no help there.. Even if all the pains, other symptoms were anxiety induced, it sure doesn't explain what caused my heart to feel like it was going to beat out of my chest for a few seconds.

Edit: EKG/Blood Tests were normal even though my BP was 150+/100+ which is just a bit high for someone my age but that could have been temporary.

The problem with cardiac diseases or any abnormalities is, if they're not happening at the exact second you have an EKG test, it won't show up so it'll be "fine and normal." And no doctor was willing to give me a Stress Test/Echo.

Sticky situation, well, I hope you make a good come back.

As for the Dummies books, I find they barely brush on their intended topics, let alone go in depth. Most of the content to me seems completely broadened out, in the sense that the value of a page could fit into a paragraph.

Also, another heads up, I don't really see what value Java is going to provide you with. It's a pretty long language to learn, and doesn't really have any real use when it comes to web development.

Ok now this will probably sound weird but I had a lot of the weird heart beat stuff when I was sitting the same position for hours playing Warcraft. Leaning forward in particular irritates the vagal nerve which can give the wacky heartbeat for a few secs - it is NOT harmful. The numbness again could be nerve entrapment. Seriously when I stopped playing the symptom stopped but it took a while. I had all the cardiac checks and all was fine. Also anxiety can do some pretty weird things to you.

Anxiety (most of the time) usually causes temporary effects.

However Generalized Anxiety Disorder does do some pretty weird things to you. And it is true that nerve damage can cause numbness, erratic or irregular heartbeats can be anything from normal anxiety triggered palpitations or even atrial fibrillation.

It would probably greatly benefit me to see a Chiropractor when I can so I can get my neck/back looked at. Sitting in a chair gaming/being on the computer for years has probably done a little number.

I second this - Your symptoms sound like you're a prime candidate for clotting though. You should get up at least once per hour and move around, go get a drink, go pee if you pee standing up, go walk outside and check out your trees. Anything to get some blood pumping for 5-10 minutes.

Clots kill fast - like before you can call 911.

It'll feel like a waste of time but really, if it saves your life it's worth it. And hey, you might even see something cool outside.

Yeah, Atrial Fibrillation can cause clotting which will cause a stroke if it travels to the brain.

If you experience a lot of transient pains, or a lot of very short irregular heart beats then my advice would be to see a therapist.. they'll help you way more than any ER or Doctor period. Most doctors tend to ignore what patients say because they think they're too stressed/worried to think clearly and they only focus on one major symptom and ignore the others.

Hrm.. and it's scary to think about how many medical mistakes there are.

My muscles also started switching in my shoulder and knees every know and then, I guess its because I drink 15 cans of coke a day, its funny how this thread turned into a health issue discussion, hope its nothing serious, these doctors are some of the most incredibly skilled con artists when it comes to making you spend money on things you dont need.

Go for a 2-3 mile walk each day.

None of this is to "lose weight." You can be just as unhealthy skinny, as you can be fat.
