Iv'e noticed alot of people getting banned lately and they have a lot of thanks/rep/itrader etc. makes me feel a little nervous about building my profile up.
Do these guys break the rules somewhere? Noticed Gregstereo was banned and i always liked to read his stuff.

BHW moderators exercising the BAN HAMMER OF DEATH more and more recently, weeding out the scum who use a good reputation to scam quite often hard up BHW members out of their hard earned cash.

Have nothing but praise for moderators at BHW.

Usually a ban happens when someone's greed overcomes their common sense.

Absolutely, i bet they do an excellent job and im glad that they ween all the baddies out. Just sometimes when you start to like someone and start to follow there threads it just comes a great shock that they are suddenly banned lol.

Feel like the things i have been learning from them might not be that good now!

OP, you're new, so here is something that will "interest" you :)

Read this thread, esp. the post made by WIZ. It will let you know why this (your) thread is inappropriate.

Reputation or lack of reputation isn't a consideration when a ban is issued. It has to do with breaking the rules. You could be a member of BHW for two days or two years. Either way, if you break the rules, you may get banned. It also depends on how serious the offense was. You might get banned for a week, a year or forever. It all depends . . .

Also, we do not ban people because we like them or dislike them, or because they are nice guys or idiots. Again, it has to do with the seriousness of the offense. There have been several times when I have had to ban someone that I actually personally liked. But as moderators and administrators, we cannot show favoritism. I don't think any of us enjoy banning anyone, but we have to do it sometimes, whether we want to or not.

Cheers! - "Wiz"

I am also seeing lot of bans nowadays.. But I agree that some members are using their reputation to rip people off.

that even goes for mod's too!
one was just banned, so they are extremely fair.

i was wondering if there is a common mistake people make to get banned. i think most the people in bst are ethical providers, im sure that cant be it.

no such thing as a common mistake when people get banned for not obeying the rules. usually scammers. And most of the time if a thread is inappropriate or something the mods will warn the person and if they continue acting like an idiot then yup they got warned

Even "reputable" members do or say dumb things now and then...

Some people make sales threads in wrong sections, keep trying to advertise in their sig when a mod deletes the sig, mass PMing people affiliate links or trying to hide affiliate links in posts. I would say these are the most common "slip ups" that reputable people make without actually TRYING to scam people.
