Will cloning a de-indexed site work?

Hi

One of my best performing blogs was de-indexed from Google a while ago. It was making $20 - $40 a day from Adsense and Amazon up until then. I am still getting a bit of traffic from other sources but it is only a fraction of what it was.
There are over 27,000 posts on the blog.

I was thinking of registering a similar domain and cloning the whole blog to the new domain and doing a redirect from the old site to the new one.

Do you think this is a good idea or since it has been de-indexed before would this raise some kind of red flag with Google?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Why was it removed from the index in the first place.

I think your theory is sound as long as you use a 301 redirect, and add some link buys for the site to get it indexed and ranked again.

I don't think this will work otherwise id be cloning websites all day long.

Well it was an Autoblog using WProbot. Was posting about 15 times a day so maybe G didn't like that. I also changed the WProbot youtube module so when it embedded a video it put it in JWplayer so you could not click through back to Youtube.

Or maybe G just decided to pick on me....

It had over 60,000 pages indexed in google befire it was de-indexed.
