What is the recommended language for an iPhone app?

Sorry if this is a noob question, but I really don't know anything about programming. I am looking to have an iPhone app developed, and I need to know what kind of programmer to look for to build it.

I tried a Google search and the results that came up said C, C++, C#, and Objective-C. Can I use any of these? Is one better than the other?

Also, where would the best place be to hire someone to build it for me? Are the Philippines any good? I have access to both onlinejobs.ph and bestjobs.ph which is all Filipino workers.

As far as I know you have to use Objective C and the Cocoa Touch API. You will need to find an existing Mac / iPhone developer since the development environment is Mac-only.

How is the price if I were to use that site? It says they are all US-based developers which is going to probably cost me a lot more than if I were to find someone overseas right?

I don't imagine you'll find many quality overseas developers. MACs aren't exactly popular outside of the US. Good luck either way; I recommend using a US developer. oh, and the only language is Objective-C. All others are hacks/limited API.

I see. I wasn't sure how it all worked so that's why I figured I could find someone overseas to do it just like I could for most other programming projects.

I'll try out that site mentioned above and see what kinda quotes I can get.

All of the above refer to native IPhone apps.
You could also build a web based app to access from the web (I think you can package it as an ipa and offer it in app store also, not sure).
There are some nice frameworks, look at http://www.sencha.com/products/touch/. Looks pretty good.
