[n00b] Seeking domain help...

I recently acquired a domain name that gets about 100k monthly searches. I slapped up a wp theme and some relevant content but currently it still has no traffic. How exactly would I go about tapping into that 100k traffic?? Can somebody give me a simple walkthrough.

Help is appreciated!

Are you ranking at all for that keyword? Just because you buy a domain that gets high searches doesn't mean anything if you ain't #1-3, IMO.

Did you pick up the domain from the expired list and if so, are you running adsense on it? If you're not currently running adsense I would use the adsense preview tool to see if the domain has been banned.

However, hard to give an answer without knowing the domain details ie. is the domain the "exact" keyword, not hyphenated etc.

If all good then it's going to be seo related.

I put up some adsense on it and started building some backlinks to it

buying a domain with 100K searches is half the question to ask yourself. The other half is how much competition there is for the Keyword(s) the domain name targets. More competition = more work ahead for you even with a good domain name but hang in there and keep working it. Onsite optimization and diversified backlinks + time can get you there.

Its actually "exact keyword*s*" (almost a phrase) , not hyphenated.

That it come to your keyword and your content problem. Your content also do need to be quality and the keywords that you target need to same with the previous domain name. If not you will lose all your backilnk as well.

@jerrickyeoh I appreciate your help,,,If you read my first post i stated that I "recently acquired" the domain.

So,,,,,,, the only problem (I've come to realize) is that its a competitive niche and i have to build more backlinks to actually rank in a higher (relevant) position for it.

I've also learned so much in the past 2 weeks its nuts. lol. I now have a solid understanding of domains, quality backlinks, methods, etc.. Thanks to the search feature and other forums just like this.
