Hosting new sites on a new IP?

Ok iv'e learnt by now not to have too many sites on a shared hosting account especially if im playing the BH game.

I got about 8 sites running from my shared account and all my sites using the same IP but i now want to create more WH sites, so i want to keep them well away on diff IP's.

Whats my options here?

should i take out another shared account for the WH's?
or go for the VPS with 2/4/6 IP's + Cpanel?

Shared = cheaper + slower/weaker
VPS = more expensive +faster/stronger

It's really that simple, just pick what you need and go from there

Im not even asking about VPS power...obviously i know a VPS has more power.

Im asking about running too many sites off the same IP address and should i considder just opening another shared account or should i go for a VPS with many IP's and make say 10 or so sites from each of them?

If you don't want the hassle of a VPS, get a reseller account so you can then purchase dedicated IP's for each of the accounts. A reseller would be MUCH cheaper than a VPS, you can probably get a reseller somewhere for cheaper than a cPanel license for your VPS anyway.

I wouldn't bother going to a VPS if all you want is one extra account. But if you intend to keep going and seperate all your sites onto different IP's, then it may be the way to go.

Also, go easy on people trying to give you advice...

Well, it depends on how you link them. Obviously you can have as many sites as you want all doing various things. On a shared account there could be hundreds of sites on the same IP.

If you are linking them, and (theoretically) are looking for a SEO benefit, then they should be on different IP's.

In some ways it can actually be worse to have a bunch of blackhat sites sharing their own unique IP.

If you're on a true shared host, sharing an IP with dozens / hundreds of other sites, you can hide out in the crowd. If you have your own IP with a bunch of shitty spam sites on it, it makes it pretty obvious in terms of the link graph on an IP level - especially if you are duplicating your back link sources amongst the sites.

Of course, if you can vary your content generation and backlink sources and don't interlink your sites, it can also be advantageous to have your sites on a unique IP because you won't get tarred by any nasty shit that other people are doing on that particular IP or virtual box.

IMHO these days you're better off going with either completely shared hosting (and hiding amongst other people's sites on the same IP) or going for a unique IP for each domain, if the budget stretches that far. I do a mix of both.

Google filed in one of their patents that they give bonus marks to sites on a unique IP - they theoretically take it as a mark of quality. However I can't really see this being a particularly valid assumption in the future considering we've run out of IPv4 IP addresses.

You are definitely right to want to segregate your white hat from black hat sites though.
