I Need A Laptop/Notebook

Before you guys jump on me telling me this not seo or whatever, this thread is in the Lounge.

Anyway, now that I'm starting to use my computer more and more, and I also need to move about aside but need access to my work files and internet to check on my remote computer, I am in need of a laptop/notebook.

I know a couple of you guys have some laptops you use on a daily basis. What do you guys recommend?

Basically I am looking for:

2-4gb ram (4gb preferred)
graphics card not necessary I won't be playing games or doing anything graphic intensive
at least 2.0 ghz dual core
all hard drives above 30gb are fine for me (which is just about every drive now haha)
At least 3 hours of battery life (on internet with several browsers + chat clients + text processing apps open). I figure that I can carry an extra battery or two on longer trips.


As you can see I'm not looking to spend a $1,000 notebook to run games or scrapebox/xrumer. I just need to check on my remote computers, write some articles, surf the web/e-mail/chat clients, and that's it.

So if any of you guys have good deals/discounts on laptops/notebooks come at me with your aff link haha or just let me know. The cheaper the better, if it can fit my descrip of course.

laptops only last about 3 years now days -
buy something cheap --- about $500-$600

17.3" monitor 1070hd
i5 processor
4g RAM
500g HDD

I think I paid $799.00 and an extra $120 for the 3 year warranty.
Should be able to do everything you need and more, and the 17" monitor is pretty sweet, not to mention very lite.

Yeah that's pretty much my max range for now, as I don't need anything too flashy with bells and whistles. 3 years is more than enough for me actually.

The Sony Vaio is actually a bit overkill for me, as I won't really be watching videos or playing games or even looking at pictures. I looked into it though, it's not bad.

I've been thinking about grabbing this one, but it seems there's not much discussion about it, so maybe it sucks or maybe it's just because it's not popular/no one buys it. It is an ACER notebook with a triple core 2,1 ghz 4gb ddr3 ram, 15.6" monitor

Also, I've been looking at this one, an HP laptop but the Acer has much better stats. This Hp laptop has 2.2 ghz dual core, 2gb ddr3 ram, 15.6" monitor

Maybe it's just prices higher because people trust the HP brand more, I dunno know. They are both $400 and seem decent.

Unfortunately when buying a new notebook your gonna struggle to get low specs. I would suggest to you have a look a Gigabyte, They are very strong notebooks, with a low price-tag, am sure that it will be well in your price range.

Some 12" genuine Intel. I got mine 2GHz Core2Duo ~2 years ago and it still works great. Very light and the small screen means great portability and extended battery life, 3-4 hours and it can run anything short of the newest games. To push the battery further, get a SSD instead of a HDD (or buy one extra). The constant spinning of the HDD needs a lot of power.

If you want even longer, get a windows tablet pc (not a netbook).They they can last a day. But almost all come with an Atom CPU.

How about a second hand Thinkpad off eBay? You can get a widescreen T61 for $250-$400. The keyboard's good for typing.
