Why didn't I check my spelling?!?

I got in a hurry a little while ago and didn't check my spelling when I was registering a new domain. It wasn't until I had gone into my c-panel that I even noticed it. I missed a single "i" in the name.

I went ahead and registered the correct spelling and I guess I'll 301 the misspelled domain.

I've learned my lesson to always double check my spelling before I submit my order.

Ive done that with namecheap before. I noticed immediatley when i was going to change my nameservers.

if its still brand new and your registrar has online support, hit them up and they may me able to help you out.

I cant remember exactly how much I got back but it was about $7 from a $10 domain. I think the time limit was 24hrs (might have been 48).

you can give them the domain back in the first 7 days if i'm not mistaken and they'll refund your money.

It happened to me before in some russian registrar and i jst asked for a refund on the domain and was given one.

I once purchased a domain in namecheap few years back and I was refunded and my domain cancelled saying that my contact info was wrong, so I knew that domain cancellation is possible.

But later once I registered lime599.net from limedomains (guess what! it was actually the discount code I was trying to use but I registered the discount code as domain name, what a silly mistake )
I asked the support immediately but they replied that it is impossible to cancel a domain.

When I started in IM, I had only $10 in my paypal, so i checked the spelling 3 times before going forward... those were good times lol, i was broke as fuck...

ICANN let's you drop a domain the first 5 days after registering it at no extra cost (well, $0.20 actually). It's called a grace period. Tell the registrar that and ask for your money back. If they start whining, tell them you didn't know they were that desperate but will be starting a donation campaign on blogs and forums telling about their financial woes to help them out

but there may be a lot of variations of spelling mistakes people may do. so should we register them all ? typo traffic is generally ignorable.

I'm not losing any sleep over it, I just thought it was funny and might be a good warning for some of the people that are out there searching between couch cushions for loose change to buy a domain.

I'm just going to keep it and redirect it.

lol...iv'e done this a couple of times now and namecheap have been really helpfull and sorted it out straight away.

To be honest im not sure which is worst out of buying a domain with a letter missing or a 10k blog blast with the wrong Tld in your links (yes done that one too!) ...DOH!
