yes, it means it is working correctly. But if it is working correctly, It will redirect too, which is what this code is supposed to do.

Would be a lot more simple and less blackhat if you setup a blog or something on a subdomain of your site with the same look and feel as your main site. Have your link goto your root domain and have your link exchange coming out of your subby

Yes, this can be done with any site. If you are using it for the site you're using to attract links to and redirect for Google, you'll only have to find out where to put the conditional redirect code. Probably in the header though.

is there any risk of being sandboxed ? If not i am gonna give it a shot.
Risk of doing this might be more like a penalty than just the sandbox (when you get caught by Google or a competitor), so do keep that in mind when implementing any blackhat tactic.

This method is unsafe because google has been known ( I'm told ) to spoof the user agent to detect such things..
There's another method I wrote to detect google and I'm sure it can be altered for other engines as well, PM me if you want that code.. I don't want to post it out right.. but it does not rely on user-agent
If google does spoof it's user agent and notices the difference it's bad news for you.
