(I had a hard time choosing what section to post this in, I ended up considering this as a combination of black/grey/white hat techniques, but I consider the mix as kind of light grey 
, so I'm posting in white hat seo)
Here is my own personal method I use for every new niche I target. It has been made by combining several methods I've found here and there, keeping what I prefer and spitting out the rest.
You can take it as a step by step guide or only take the part you like and plug them into your own method.
This involve a bit of time and work, and won't make you rich overnight. This method is designed to be profitable in the long run. After a few weeks of work and patience, when the site hit G's top results, it becomes an automated cash machine, even if it's only a few tens or hundred bucks per month, that's a steady income. I don't expect one site to buy me the playboy mansion (though I'd love to ), but that's the way I create my own little empire with many sites.
Requirement and investments :
- .com domain name ( <$10)
- Hosting ( <$3/month)
- Scrapebox (priceless) (It actually costed me $57, but it's worth more than ten times every single cent)
- A bit of time, will, commitment and patience (these are priceless virtues, but are required to actually become successful, whatever the method you use)
SETTING UP A BRAND NEW WEBSITE
- After choosing a niche and some keyword research (I won't detail this process on here, anyway if you can't figure this up, this method is probably not for you), I keep a list of 10 - 20 top keywords for the niche and throw it into a bulk domain availability checker. Then I buy mykeyword.com or my-keyword.com and a hosting plan. From now on "my keyword" is my main keyword to focus on.
- Install wordpress on my brand new site, and set up everything : install a nice looking theme (well that's subjective), plugins, set up permalinks etc.
Here the list of the plugins I use for WP :
- All in one SEO pack (some prefer platinum SEO, but last time I tried to swith to it, it screwed up all of my permalink structure, so I stick to what works for me without hassle )
- cbnet Ping Optimizer (avoids wordpress to send to many pings, especially when you are editing an articles you've just published)
- Fast secure contact form (a site with a contact page is always better looking)
- Google analyticator (i'm an analytics geek)
- Google XML sitemap
- SEO searchterms taging
- Simple 301 redirect (to cloak affiliate links, explained in the next steps)
- W3 total cache (I always see a huge improvement of wordpress loading speed and performance thanks to this one)
- WP Socializer (I like to add a "share" button on all posts and pages, along with a "facebook like" link)
- I setup analytics and webmaster tools, this is optional, but as I said before, I'm an analytics geek.
- Depending on the niche I chose, I pick an affiliate product from clickbank, or amazon products, or some other aff program, or Adsense... whichever applies best for the niche.
- Set up a page on wordpress to pre-sell the aff product (exept if I chose adsense), and a link (image, banner or textlink) on the side bar.
- Cloak the affiliate link with a 301 redirect. (eg. Use a link such as ht tp://my-site.com/name-of-the-product/, and set up a 301 redirect from this url to the real affiliate link)
- Get a dozen 400 words unique and quality articles related to the niche/keyword (I write them myself, but this could be outsourced). Post the first one immediately, and the others with future dates.
(When you create a new post in wordpress, on the right side you have the option to "publish immediately", or to set a date and time, including dates in the future. If you do so, the article will automaticaly appear on the date/time you set, just as if you actually posted it at this moment.) [posted by Zak_A on BlackHatWorld] So for the next 2 or 3 weeks, a new article will show up on the blog every 2/3 days, then that will make me a quality 15 or so pages site.
So now I have a quality automated blog.
- Social bookmark the site. (Digg, Reddit, etc.)
Now the website is all set up, on-page SEO is done, and site will already be indexed by G thanks to social bookmarking, added to wordpress' autoping function and the fact that G loves wp anyway.
This took me a few hours and I can let the blog alone as it is automated, and move on to the most important and challenging part :
LINK BUILDING
- Every few days, when a new article appear on the site, I'll social bookmark it.
- Create Web2.0 properties (hub, squidoo, blogspot, etc.), and fill them with another batch of quality content related to niche/keyword, and outbound links to a couple related authority websites or real relevant ressources + my main site.
- Draw my favorite toy (or weapon, as you prefer to call it)
(For those in the back row who ain't listening : I'm talking about ScrapeBox)
I'll use four lists :
#1 Auto approve blogs without PR
#2 Auto appove blogs with PR
#3 High PR blogs (auto-approve or not)
#4 Forum profiles with PR
For all lists, I don't care if links are d0- or n0- foll0w. Linkbuilding will be more "natural" if I have links on both anyway.
I'll soon make another post to detail my personal method to harvest these lists.
- Blast comments pointing to web2.0 properties on auto approve blogs without PR (list #1).
- Blast a few comments pointing to main site on auto approve blogs with PR (list #2).
My main site is on a brand new domain, so I don't want too many backlinks at a time. Additionally, I'd rather lessen the risk of sandboxing, that's why I'll only throw backlinks on PR pages, which I think are better than tons of baklinks blasted anywhere and everywhere.
- Manually post quality comments with backlink to main site on a few high PR blogs every day, or every other day (list #3). I actually read the posts and post clever and relevant comments on these blogs. These quality backlinks are worth the hassle, especially on moderated high PR blogs.
- Manually create PR forum profiles (list #4). Fill them with personal info and images, to make the profile relevant and less spammy looking.
- Eventually, after a few weeks of doing this (sometimes less than 2 weeks, sometimes more than 6, it all depends on the competition and the efforts put in it), my main site will hit G's first page, and with a bit more luck and efforts, Top 3 or #1 position.
That's it ! Rinse and repeat with another new blog. Depending on the time you have to do that, you can either do this with several sites at once, or focus on only one, and when you're done move on to the next one.

Q : (I know lots of you guys want to know this) How much do you make with this method ?
A : It all depends on the site/niche. Some make a few bucks/day from adsense, other make bigger aff comissions every few days. My most successful website is ranked #1 for a 10k searches/months keyword, in a low competition niche. It generates anywhere between 1 and 5 affiliate sales per day, and makes me $25 commission/sale (You do the maths )
