Is indexed backlink the link which is on the page that is indexed by google or is it whn you type "link:http...." in google search and you get it pointing to your site?

Like if I put backlink on squidoo lens and that lens is indexed by google it means I have that "indexed backlink"
or
I should type "link:http... (my site url)" in google and get a result that that squidoo lens is pointing at my site?

I surely hope its the first one, otherwise I would be completely lost

Yes it's just when the page that the backlink is on is indexed by google. Sometime the page with the backlink will be spidered but not indexed (eg. forum profiles) and there is some evidence that this can have a beneficial effect too.

The link: command doesn't really work and only shows a fraction of your real backlinks, if it works at all.

yeah I would use [linkdomain:] on yahoo rather than use Google.

This command shows way more than google but still not all links.
Page with my link may be indexed by yahoo but still not be shown through yahoo siteexplorer ..

Thanks. 2 questions:
1 Is there any fast way to check indexed links in bulk? When I check if single page is indexed I just type in the url in google (is that correct way to do it?).
But If I have 200 or 1000 backlinks and I want to see which are indexed what should I do? Sure not to check one by one manually?
2 How can I know if page with backlink was spidered?

1> Yes that's the correct way to do it. You need to find yourself a serp scraper and feed it your list of urls you want to check.

2> You can't know really. If they get spidered then they will show up in your backlinks in things like yahoo site explorer and the other backlink listing tools, but most tools don't show all your backlinks. Just keep spamming.

Hmm... How can any link show up in site explorer if its not even indexed (just spidered)? :)

Whatever. Obviously it was just a typo. Don't be a douche to people who are helping you with your noob questions.

Often when hitting "product xy" or long tail keywords at web 2.0 properties with huge profile & SB backlinks, they start ranking, but Yahoo SiteExplorer shows often for example only 50 links, whereas I have a lot of more.

I'm sure that also links that aren't seen as indexed, still count. Obviously not all, but the ones crawled.

it was a serious question, I thought I was lost again.

Links just need to be found, ie the page they are on is spidred. They do not need to be indexed themselves or for the pages they are on to be indexed.

Backlinks are the links you've created in your article through your keywords chosen. Whenever they click your keywords, you've been directed back to the site your promoting. Once your page that your keyword was link is indexed by google, then your backlink would be indexed. Viewers will see your page on google whenever they look for your keywords. That's what indexed backlink means.
