I bought a domain in december, and have been building up my site.

Someone here suggested I download SEOQuake on firefox, and it shows the age of the site as being in july of 2003 Does this mean I can build more backlinks,

How do you know what age a domain really is?

Domain age is an important ranking factor and I say that from my own experiences not from wjat I have read on the net.

However that doesn't mean that you should go out and spam the hell out of it.

Take your time you have prob struck it lucky and picked up an expired domain by chance. SeoQuake is telling you how old it is, well at least when they have a record of its first registraion

Hi,
Domain age is the time between the creation date and current date .First you can find the creation date of your time from Whois Database in online sites like Whoisxy then you can calculate the domain age easily.....

There is a big diffrence between "Domain Age" and site age-

Domain age is worthless information if the domain has been parked / dropped / deindexed (cause of expiration) or changed too many owners, even if its dated 15 years ago.

Site Age is an important factor.
