In August,last year i bought www.iLoveBig.Com .I was wondering how much dose it worth,since I haven't used it untill then,and still not planing to use it in the near future...

What he means is that in spite of what domain speculators would like you to believe, most domain names aren't worth anything more than the standard price from a registrar.

There's very few names that all by themselves are actually worth a lot of money even without any previous use or promotions. That would be domains like sex.com, porn.com, money.com, realestate.com, etc. and most of those type names were purchased long ago. Anything else is just worth the value of it's registration until someone does something with it to add value to the domain.

Thats why it amazes me that the domain speculators actually make any money with the names they hold hostage. I actually had a use for a particular random four letter domain name once, so I sent a request for it. I received an email reply showing me the number of search results for that term was something like 10 million results or something and explained how valuable the domain was because of that. He asked for something like $20K for the domain. While the returned results were what the guy suggested, actual searches for the term was actually ZERO. I sent him a reply explaining the difference between actual searches for the term vs. number of pages returned for it. I told him the domain was worth about $10 but I'd be nice and give him $20 cause I did have a use for it. I never heard back from him again, so I just went with my next best choice which cost me $10. lol. That was 5 years ago, and that particular four letter .com domain name is still unsold. I imagine I could check again in 50 years and it'll still be unsold. lol

The thing is, there really are people out there who don't know anything about how the internet works that might have believed the gobbledegook in the guys email and probably pay those exhorbitant prices. Most of those type domain speculators are just taking advantage of peoples naivety. They also create the impression that anyone with a good domain name can resell it for a premium even if they never used it. The reality is that if someone can't get the exact name they want, it doesn't take much to find a variation that will be just as good.

So if you have a really great domain name, it's really not going to be that valuable unless you at least set up some type of website on it and do some amount of promotion. How much effort you want to do can mean the difference between selling it for $20 or $2000. Create a turnkey site with some type of then you might be able to sell it on ebay for $20-$50 bucks and get the guy to sign up for hosting through your own hosting reseller account (which is the real goal in that case). :cool2:

If you really want t make some money selling your domain then set up a halfway decent site, promote it until you start generating actual revenue and then maybe you can get thousands. :smokin:

You can probably sell it for $2 to a bulk buyer. Maybe regfee if you spend a lot of time seeking a buyer.

I have some one word domains that i get offers for from time to time, usually in the 300 - 500 range. Its usually someone who needs it and I rarely sell. Also 3 and 4 letter domains can sell for quite a bit. I sold one of those awhile ago for 5 figures.

It is never what the domain is worth, its what its worth to someone else, unless of course you build traffic on it, then there is tangible value.
