Uniqueness of articles for backlinks

I am spinning 11 versions of 1 article with each containing a backlink. The original article was written by me specifically for this purpose so it itself is unique and is not found anywhere on the internet.

My question is how unique should the subsequent spun articles be from the original in terms of seo?

What should I be shooting for percentage wise?

Your main problem the website you want to submit to. Google will accept the backlinks regardless of the uniqueness of the articles (different articles probably lead to better backlinks). On the other hand EZinearticles,hubpages,etc only accept unique articles.
As a rule of thumb SEnuke suggests 30%, if you submit to EZarticles first and hubpages second and wait a couple of days before you submit anywhere else..

The ones I've seen seem to want a URL to compare your article to but as I mentioned earlier my initial article is unique since it's written by myself and won't be found on the internet until after I begin my backlink campaign.

DupeFree Pro and Spinner chief has a checker as well and is free too

Try academicplagiarism.com. The have a free version that checks for plagiarism, which in theory is the same thing. I have purchased their premium account and I'm getting fairly accurate results from it. Note, however, that with their software, the lower the percentage is, the better.
