Shortened domains

Need some help here guys

Been offered the opportunity to sell products on behalf of a large distributor.
Its the same niche as my existing business.
They are going to build a sales portal for me branded as my business and im going to host and manage the site myself.

Heres the thing, the product is a 2 word keyword. 3 letters then 11 letters
and after a bit of keyword research it seems as if a lot of folks type in a shortened version of the 2 word ie only 5 letters instead of 11.

G gives them the results as if they had typed in the full words.

My question is, would it be beneficial to me to grab a domain/s using the shortened 2 word ie ww w 3 letters and 5 letters co m/or g/ne t ?
Would G then send these shortened requests to me and rank my site for them instead of giving the full words as results?

I do not have the experience to know.

You have to make sure they really are searching for the short version by checking the exact search in G keyword tool. If you just point the new domains to your old site you are doing it wrong. Better to make each a mini site with unique spun content that links back to your main site.

Yes G says the shortened version is typed but G gives the lengthened results.

The new domain with the shortened keyword will be the domain of the products site, not an auto redirect or anything.

So is there a benefit in putting the site on a domain with a shortened keyword?

i mean that shortened keyword gets plenty searches its just G gives the full keyword results

In all honesty BigBoris, your domain won't have that much effect on Dictionary-based Keywords, that's why it's important to build your own brand when operating any sort of business online, that way with your own brand you can gain a sense of trust and receive some loyalty from potential customers and visitors.

There are a range of Keyword Researching Tools that will help you identify other related Keywords, so you attack your niche at every possible angle, for example ScrapeBox's Keyword Scraper and most specifically the Wonder Wheel Scraper will work wonders at exposing better and more niche Keywords from an already existing niche.

So to summarise, I can assure you your domain won't have as much impact, and with regards to customers it would be more wise to build your own brand rather than work off the back of a Keyword/Keyphrase... especially in the world of eCommerce.

Agreed. If that were the case, wouldn't twitter want 'bestmicrobloggingservice.com' and facebook want 'socialnetworking.com'?

If you're selling products directly, register your LLC, pick a name, and get away gunning. You can always buy up those alternate domains and set up 301 Redirects
