I am having a problem testing proxies. It does not seem to matter what program I use. I have used Scrapebox proxy tester, Bleach, and Elite Proxy Switcher. While the results vary from program to program, they produce similar results. (Note: The results also seem to vary each time I run the tests.) Bleach will not run at all. I get 100% timeouts when I run it.
Bottom line is that most proxies will fail with a timeout.
I do not seem to have a problem with other functions of SB. I can harvest, post, etc. But, it makes me wonder if the results that I am getting while doing this are not 100%.
I had been running SB on an older laptop that I had, and attributed the problems to that PC. But I just upgraded to a newer, much faster PC, and am having similar problems.
I can run the same proxies through SB proxy tester on another slower PC (I have 2 licenses) I have (at a different location) and I will get anywhere from 2-5 times as many good proxies returned. This PC is about 1/2 as fast as my new one, and the internet connection is about 1/2 as fast, but the tests will run about the same speed.
I have tried the TCP-Z patch, but it does not seem to make any difference at all. As a matter of fact, the slower PC does not have this patch applied and it works fine.
Since I noticed the problem on both a slow laptop (connected wireless) and a fast desktop (connected hardwired) to the same network, I am wondering if the problem can somehow be hardware related (modem or router?) or something to do with this internet service provider (Even though it tests much faster than another provider that works, could they be causing things to timeout?)
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. This really puts a crimp in the use of several programs I have that use proxies!
If it matters, here are the stats on the PC that I am currently running:
AMD Phenom 9750 Quad-core processor 2.40 Ghz
8GB RAM
1TB hard drive
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Internet speed test - 11.75 Mb/s download, 1.90
