If I have an English speaking site will that work with the worldwide traffic? Obviously if a person doesn't speak English my site won't really do well, but does your worldwide traffic come from English speaking sites?

That I cannot guarantee, because they are people and whatever action they take is entirely up to them. They may visit your channel pages, or they may not visit your channel pages.
