Page 1 but no visitors?

Well here is my 2 cents. I had several keywords on first
page of G and noticed no traffic on 2 that were #6 and
#8 respectfully but my #3 did get traffic and not that much
only 48-52 uniques per month. Im ok with that. What I learned
the hard way was I worked to hard on non buyer keywords.
make sure you are pushing buyer keywords very important.

IMO, disappointment is the norm when you reach the first page for many geo-targeted keywords...

At this point im actually paying closer attention to local monthly searches, but even that seems to be somehow wrong because i rank number 2 for 44k monthly global search, and 18k monthly local search and still almost no visitors.

I honestly don't trust the keyword tool anymore. And no my Title does not suck ass.

heh, at number one it don't matter if your title sucks ass. You gonna get the traffic

Get MS and do SEOT and SEOC set on a daily filter..

Make sure you really are on the top of Google, clear your cookies and see how many people search for the keyword in that area (eg UK or US)

. This is what I seen today (2nd Jan 2011).

I know it's not results from google.com but I am mainly targeting people from NZ so the results suits me fine. But as good as that is, I'm not really getting any visitors either, just around 300 to 500 a day. I used to be on the 2nd page of the results but have been consistently using social bookmarking and link building etc, as well as being accepted into DMOZ, which has most likely helped with the results improving. I would like to rank higher in google.com but that would probably be too hard.

Google tool sucks. Approx 1 month ago I bought a domain and built a site based on exact figures of approx 4k from memory both Global and local. Now today I find that they have moved the goalposts again and watered down the figures to 1K global and 250 local. So why have the tool if all it does is cost us all money and a hell of a lot of our time chasing false data.

Man, that could take awhile... have you given any thought to "manufacturing" some clicks... just so you can get paid??? You can always continue to work on the site to get it up legitimately but at least you'll get paid for your work. Don't know how much money is involved but at least its a thought...

You probably already know this but try going on pagewash.com and search through google through that. You might actually be in position 11 which would explain why you have no visitors.

Please check google tool if your keyword getting consistent search over time. I think 880 exact match is not worth the time if your not selling expensive items or services.

becouse you could be no1 in usa, but no20 in some other country, or vice versa

Yeap, done that. In fact I used the tool from seoserp.com to check my rankings.

Tried a few countries, in CA no 2, in MY no 4, in UK no 4.


So I guess we have to look for keywords based on their search volume for exact match and NOT broad match or phrase? Why haven't I read anything about this after being in this forum for such a long time? Anyway thanks for the feedback guys, learned a lot from this hard lesson.
