A Personal Plea

Hi,
My name is Brian, and I've been trying my hand at making money online for about 5 years. Except for a short run on Ebay, I haven't been very successful yet. I am extra motivated now due to my family, and working a horrible job.
I'm probably older than most on here at 36 years old, and I'm married with 2 wonderful, sweet children, a 5 yo daughter and 3 yo son. My wife is a teacher (which is an under-appreciated job these days) and I work in sales. I have to leave home an hour and a half before work to drop them off and take the long drive to work. By the time I get home its late, and I barely have time to eat before the kids go to bed.
My job is making outbound sales calls to customers in between answering non-stop incoming calls to place orders and ask questions. Our phones ring non-stop, but we are still expected to accomplish a million other things and work like dogs. We are all put under constant pressure- Everyone is unhappy and stressed, but no one at my work wants to look for another job due to fear over the economy.
For 2011 I want to create a better life and want to be able to provide for my children and have time and energy to spend with them. When I get home, I am usually too drained to get on the computer and work on a PPC campaign or blog or what have you. But I force myself to do it, and I haven't had success. It has also been hard to focus on one idea and be persistent.
I've been a lurker on here for some time, and get inspiration and ideas from people on the board. I've also tried some of the ideas people have been nice enough to share. I'm still looking for something, or even a couple things, that would allow me to get off the hamster wheel and leave my job. If I could average about $100 a day, I could do it.
Does anyone here have any suggestions or examples of what I could do? Feel free to message me if you prefer.

Well, first off, happy new year to you also.

Second there are quite a few things that you can do in your situation, as you have a job, therefor you have (i am assuming) money that you can invest in Internet Marketing. Although a lot of people can start with no money and do very well, in your position of not wanting to spend, and not being able to spend all day working on IM, I highly suggest that you outsource some things until you get up and going to where you can quit your job and devote more time to working online.

Adsense is your best bet by far. You make money from people clicking on ads, that is about as easy as it will get. Of course you can also move into CPA and other Affiliate things, but to get you started I would suggest Adsense.

So if I was in your shoes, here is the exact plan that I would follow.

I am not affiliated with this member at all, but after reading his/her posts on the forum and just reading through that thread, you can tell that it is a good service.

I am also not affiliated with this thread or person, but I have used many services here on bhw, and this service has hands down the best customer service I have ever dealt with and I have also seen great results with a brand new site.

Step #3 - Personally I write my own articles or have my fiance write them for me, but you can pay to have them done. If your wife being a teacher, has any time available, she could also write them. You are going to need one article per page of your website at first. Then post those articles to ezinearticles.com and link them to each page of your site like below

Article #1 - link to home page with anchor text of home page
Article #2 - link to page #2 with keyword for page #2 anchor text.
Etc.

Then I would let that settle and see where I sat. Also, after purchasing this website from Mac, you will have a great template to learn how to build your own websites.

You can do another link push, for a very good price, or you can see how they did it and do your own, you can also purchase tools like SE nuke to do these things for you and go from there.

That is my honest opinion, and if I was just getting into IM and wanted a great start that is what I would follow to do it.

Only 5 years? Took me longer than that to begin making real money. If you are not born rich making money online definitely takes patience. You are in sales and so maybe you can some how work that into a business. Try to work on either you or your wife's strength, talents, or knowledge. It also help to save some money for funding your business. You also should create a business plan/ layout of what you want to do.

When you come home and feel totally drained, try to drink a energy drink and/or a coffee or redbull (just be careful and not get addicted to coffee or redbull) to get that quick extra boost.

I bet you've started down the right path more than a few times, if you've been at this for 5 years, you just need a little guidance and some tips to keep going down that path.

If you have stuff started.. maybe post them and the methods you were using so we can give ideas.

If you don't have anything started, and are starting from scratch, then do what fvcktheworld says..

my suggestion is to keep plugging away at PPC.
you already have income to fund it.
it's relatively automated if you don't have much time.
100/day is pretty easy once you find a working campaign and start optimizing it.

Thank you fvcktheworld for such a great response. I will definitely investigate it. A little bit more about my background- I've been online since the BBS days. I'm pretty good with computers and can learn just about any application. I can't write html but probably could learn. My recent focus has been to try to develop a couple blogs. I think my greatest strength would be in writing and generating content. Has anyone had success monetizing a blog, besides the John Chow's of the web? I've tried a couple before, but due to demands in my life I couldn't stick with it and ended up walking away. I have also thought about doing ad campaigns. Jonathan Volk claims to make like $300,000 a month. If I could make even 1% of that I'd be happy.

I was on the road for almost 3 years and I know how draining it can be. I didn't know squat about IM back then so I couldn't leverage all those miles for myself. You're passing hundreds of opportunities for offline marketing every day.

You're already out on the road everyday. My advice is to get affiliate accounts at cb and cj and the others. Create flyers for some G-Rated, above-board offers and put them up on the bulletin boards of every deli, supermarket, feedstore and whatever else there is in your territory that allows that kind of thing. In my area every single utility pole has professionally printed "Want to Work From Home?" or "Get Paid $$$ Daily!!" signs. While I was a road warrior I didn't know about affiliates, but now that I do I see who/what they are. If every pole wasn't covered already in my area I'd do it too

For instance, if you'd been a cj member a few months ago, last Halloween you could have printed signs for costume sites.

You will need somewhere to send the visitors though. You should have a hosting account somewhere. Once you find some nice offers to promote, brainstorm and register some decent names. If you don't want to / can't do that, You will need to at least use a URL shortener like tinyurl or the new G00gle one. If I need to send traffic to

Luckily, most people searching for things on corkboards don't know much about the web so the "tiny" bit shouldn't drive away too many customers.

And cj or some others have pay per call: you can use that phone number in your fluers. With some Hostgator hosting accounts you get a free toll-free number, so you can figure out a way to use that too.

If you're savvy enough to make landing pages, squeeze pages, or do redirects or all the other bells and whistles that would give you a good target for your print ads so much the better.

Anyway, good luck! In a nutshell my advice is to leverage your current outcall sales route (and whatever printer/ink allowance or access you have) and paper the world.

the advice from fvckworld is good, and IM is so vast space
to make money/living from, it is good to focus on 1 method
at first then scale the profitability to maximum, then
spread your knowledges to other things and do the "rinse and repeat" thing.

it is obvious from the manner and way he posted his questions was to seek help, advice and directions. not to be shouted at.

so OP, read the positive suggestions in this thread to help you and other peoples too.

I also think the advice from fvcktheworld is solid. I am moving in that direction myself. I haven't used those services yet but may in the future. I'm in a similar situation working long hours, long commute and a young family so I am outsourcing a lot. I also work on IM some while at work (RDP to home comp for blocked sites or use mobile browser) but probably need to cut back on that. It sounds like that may be difficult for you given the job demands. If creating good content is your strength then use that and learn/outsource other aspects. If something is not in your budget yet you could even start a content service to cover your outsourcing projects or backlinking tools etc. Happy New Year!

Maybe you just need to learn why nufaman makes comments like that. There really is a point, and it isn't because he likes to be rude. He isn't trying to demotivate anyone from trying to be successful, he's just trying to discourage them from making these types of threads.

They might be acceptable on other forums like WF or DP, but on BHW they are seen the same way as "How can I make $xxx a day" threads. If you've read the forum rules then you should know those type threads are not allowed here.

You seem to think that nufaman makes comments that aren't very helpful and somehow you're a good person to point that out to him. Nufaman has been around for close to a couple years now, during that time hes made close to 1700 posts. He's recieved a lot of thanks for many of his posts and has built up a pretty decent reputation on the forum. He also uses some of the services in the bst threads and has a good itrader score as well. Some of those posts might seem non-productive to you, but those are usually made in an effort to get people to understand they shouldn't be making these types of threads. His might not have been the most informative for the OP to know what to do, but it was probably by far the best reply given to show that these threads are discouraged on bhw. Aside from those type of posts nufaman has made many many helpful posts answering questions asked in pertinent threads. The number of those helpful posts far exceed the type you're complaining about, and more to the point he's made vastly more of those helpful type posts than you have yourself.

You on the other hand have been around about 6 months, that's plenty of time to have been participating in the forum and yet you still only have 22 posts. I don't think you're relly the right person to be calling nufaman out on things regarding the social structure of the forum. You've gotten some thanks and even some reps for your posts, that's a good start so kudos to you for that. Keep participating like that and after awhile you might reach a level it's worth trying to make a point like you tried making with nufaman. You might also want to pay a little attention to the forum rules though if you want to do that. Thing's on this forum are a little different than you find on forums like WD or DP. You should try to learn what's expected of people here and why the forum is structured that way. That's what made bhw as popular as it's become, so most of us here do what we can to keep it that way.

The Black Hat World forum is all about how to make money online. It's loaded with threads on various tips and methods for how to do that. Why would anyone think they need to ask the question "How can I make money?" The answer to that question is go join BlackHatForum, and then start looking for a method that makes some kind of sense to you. It's kind of pointless to ask that general question on a forum that is itself the actual answer to the question.

There's a reason "Please Help Me" threads like this are discouraged on the forum. Overall they aren't very productive. All that threads like this accomplish is to get a lot of random unrelated suggestions about what the guy should do collected into one thread. For the most part the suggestions are based only on what the individuals feel works best for them. That doesn't necessarily mean they'll even be the best suggestions for the thread starter's skill set. Since all those ideas are already presented in specific forums and threads anyway, it's better for the thread starter to just read through the existing threads to find methods that might be more suitable for them. It really very productive for the forum to just open new threads just to fill up with all those methods over and over again.

It's kind of like going to the book store and buying a book on how to do something. Then instead of reading the book, people just write a letter to the author asking him what they should do. It would be pointless to do that because that was the purpose of the book. What should the author do in that case, rewrite the book again just for each person?

That's what happens with threads like this one. Each time a new one is opened, then everyone that feels like it goes into the thread and reposts random methods that are already thoroughly described in more specific threads. Those specific type threads are valuable and what's encouraged on the forum. They're much more useful than threads like this one.

@OP - don't worry about the few flames you got for making this thread. They aren't intended to discourage you or stop you from trying to succeed. Sometimes when you get a flame that's definitely targeted at the type of thread you made, then you should just take that as a lesson not to start those type of threads. This forum is here to help you, but you need to learn what's expected of you as well.

So basically before you start another thread or post another reply, go read and follow these instructions:

• Guide for New Members
• Forum Rules

Unless you have some experience and something to contribute, your time on a forum like this is better spent reading through the existing threads, rather than starting your own. Please Help Me threads just clog up the forums, and violates the TOS you agreed to when joining BHW. Try looking through the forums to find threads where people are sharing various methods. There isn't a point in requesting people to start re-posting all those methods into this one thread, just to save you from looking through the existing forums.

If you really want to find some known methods that work, you might try looking through many the Making Money sub-forums you posted this thread in. There are 100's of methods posted that are working for many people. Pick one and follow the instructions in the thread. Not every method is going to work for every person. With diligence and a bit of luck you might find one that can work for you.

Go back and start reading through the money making forums, and try to restrain yourself from making another post until you've found a method that seems to make a little sense to you. Then you can ask questions pertaining to that method in the thread you read it in. If you have a question about something, try using the search box at the top of the left column to search about your question on BHW, and also search google to find some answers.

If you still haven't found an answer to the question, make some notes in notepad and then after you have a clear idea of what you don't understand, ask for clarification in the thread you are wondering about. A specific question posted in a pertinent thread will get you better results that starting a thread for a general question.

You did give a little background info on yourself that shows you already have some skills that can be useful for you. Most of the advice on what you should try is pretty good general suggestion for a lot of people, but you already have some skills worth utilizing so I don't really think the advice you're recieved in this thread is even the best for you. That's another example of why these threads are really discouraged.

Since you've already been given some advice in this thread, I'll try to come back a little later to give some suggestions that I think would work better for you based on some of the skills you already seem to have.

You actually have an advantage which so many people, including me, don't have... that advantage is an experience in selling things. I think you need to push yourself into it. May be, over time, you've become disappointed in the results you're getting in spite of all the sweat you've put in. May be you have seen other lesser mortals in your office surrounding getting ahead of you in seeing the products or services...

Whatever the case, I think that you need to do this FIRST to achieve a real success in every department >>>

So before MAKING you get back in whatever field you choose (and for that matter, BHW DOES HAVE a lot to help you come up in life), please read >>>

First >>> "Smile" . Give yourself a real good smile. It's so easy! Begin liking yourself more. It really makes a huge difference. You get the universe to take notice... Smiling also helps lose tensions. Don't believe this? Then try doing that...

Shed away that negative trait which you might have built up unconsciously due to falling to the pressures that life offered >>> "I can't..." "I don't (know what to do next)"... Others can while I can't... I'm fed up.... I can't give more to my dear ones....

Find what's best within you. Write those down. Then use the mirror technique --- "Look" into a great person who is now standing in front of that mirror. Admire his qualities... Of course if you still find some bad qualities, try "destroying" those. This will again put more confidence in you.

Take some more time in finding what you "think you CAN do", but instead of just reading, now begin analyzing and finding some great twist that would take the may be "now a bit stale method" a step further with new life. You will only need to invest in a pencil and a piece of paper...

"See" yourself providing all great things to your family, and then only, go after achieving those things.You WILL succeed.

I pray that your dear ones get all good things in life (it will automatically also make you a great success)....

i commend you for trying to take action to get out of the horrible dayjob.Not many do it in this economy and as for making 100 per day,remember that it cannot be accomplished in a month or two.Since i deal with web site creation and development,i would suggest you go for the micro niche sites.30 sites making 3 dollars every day seems like what you need right now to quit the day job.And when you think about it,it certainly is achievable within 3 or 4 months.

OK Brian - I said earlier that since this thread already gave you some suggestions I'd come back to give some of my own advice. That doesn't mean I think these threads are a good idea, but simply because I think some of the suggestions might be steering you in the wrong direction. They're good suggestions and methods that can be very successful, but I think based on the information you gave in the first post I think you'd be better off sicking with traditional type sales. It sounds like your already used to that type of business.The internet equivalent of that is affiliate marketing.

Doing adsense as previously suggested isn't a bad idea, but the primary way of making money with that is with SEO. You need to have your own domain and hosting, build a good website and get the site high enough in the serps to start getting traffic. There's a lot of things that can be done to accomplish that, but they either involve a lot of time to do yourself, or money to either buy tools or pay for services. Typically adsense is also a low paying method. The way to really make money with it is to have many sites, each making a little money and then the combind income starts becoming more substantial. It isn't a bad idea, but you already said your already stressed for time.

With affiliate marketing, a website can be helpful but isn't an absolute necessity. If you have a website SEO can be helpful to get traffic if you get it high enough in the serps, but again it isn't necessary. Basically it's similar to being a salesman in any other type of industry. You sign up as a salesman for a company with worthwhile products to sell, then you canvas for leads that might be interested in the products, promote the products to those leads, close as many sales as you can, and then collect your paychecks. There's ways to do all that within the time schedule you have, and you can do it with little to no out of pocket expenses on your part. I've definitely simplified it in this description, but I really do think it looks like the method that would work best for someone already experienced in sales.

Think of it in the same way as what an Independent Insurance Agent does. They sign up with several different insurance companies that give the agent a wide variety of products to sell. They aren't employees of the various companies, but rather just have access to the products to sell. The agent though runs his own company, it's up to him to generate the leads and promote the products. But when he makes the sale, he gets a substantial commission for it. The great thing is he doesn't have to sell a lot of of individual products. He might only sell one medicare supplimate a month, but he also sells one whole life plan, a couple term life plans, etc. So he only makes one sale a month of a product for each company, but combined he's actually made commission on many sales for himself. I chose an insurance agent as an example because they sale intangible products. That's really similar in concept to the type of products sold online, all you have to do is make the sale and then collect your commission. There isn't any shipping, or handling of goods to be concerned with.

There's lots of ways to do this type of marketing. Write articles linking to your affiliate link. Make classified ads on CL. Or if CL seems too hard for you there are other classified sites. Make FB profiles and promote your products there. Advertise in your local newspaper. Put flyers up on bulletin boards. etc. TapTapper already gave you a lot of good suggestions. You can choose strictly informational products and be an affiliate through clickbank, promote lead generation products for cpa companies, even promote real products for things like Amazon, Ebay, clothing stores, software companies, etc.

Anyway that;s the direction I'd say on what direction to look in. The rest of my advice is just the basic stuff - don't keep bouncing around, decide the business model you're going to work in and then stay focused on that plan. Think of what's expected of you at your current job. Think of this in those same terms. Define what tasks need to be accomplished, priortize them, and then make yourself do them for your new business the same way you make yourself do them for your current job. Treat it as if it is a second job that you're lucky enough to be able to do from home. Evaluate your home time to determine what your best work schedule could be. Be realistic about how mush time you can devote so you don't over burden yourself, but then set yourself some defined hours in which you're 'at work' for your new business.

That's pretty general information, you need to go look through the forums for specific methods and techniques for doing all that. Just remember as you find threads on topics unrelated to the plan you establish, don't let them sway you onto a new project. It might be worth reading unrelated threads, but only because they might contain some information that could still be related. If it doesn't then move on to another thread, don't get sidetracked into following a new method.

That isn't a lot of help, but hopefully it can give you an idea of how to get on the right track.
