MTURK and SEO, New Technique. Will it Work???

Someone posted yesterday about having a program use proxies to go to Google, type in their main keyword, and then click on their site link. Then changing the proxies, so the IP changes with each click.

Can I use Mturk to do this?

Basically pay people a few cents to go to Google, type in my keyword, and click on my site. If they go to Google [dot] com, even though they are in another country, the results should still show up the same right?

What do you guys think, or suggest. Thanks in advance.

This was used back in 2005/2006 I still have the programs that use to this tho .
But the method itself isn t new , it worked 5 months ago when google had a problem with their database and they didn t updated for 5-6 days , but It is not working anymore , at least for me . Right now I would say Google ranking will basically come to on site SEO + Quality backlinks and the scheme of your backlinks. Your site popularity has nothing to do with your ranking.
Again those are just my thoughts .

The other day when Hugh Hefner got engaged to Crystal Harris I put out a press release pretty quickly... it made it to the first page for about an hour. I wound up getting about 1200 views with almost 400 click-thrus to a website. The site that I was driving traffic to jumped from the 5th page to the 2nd page within a few hours... it's still there.

Not sure if it was strictly coincidence or if it was from the clicks???

It's based off the premise that a search listing with a high CTR holds more value thus should rank higher. Whether it is a part of the algorithm or not, I haven't read anything from Google saying that it is.

You never know but for me this is a complete waste of time when I could be doing things that build long term results.

I think this is definitely worth testing. I'm not so sure that anyone will be willing to report back with their findings though. Considering how crazy Google has gotten over the past few months, there's really no telling what other factors could effect your SERPs.

I'd say do it if you've got some spare cash. Just don't get your hopes up too high because you might find out that this 'trick' was merely a coincidental occurrence.

That is all white hat. When you think about it, that is how google news works pretty much. You had a popular and trending topic. You got in early and put out a press release which will get spidered quickly. That gets indexed because of trending demand and gives a quick boost to your website because thats where the juice flows to.

As for if clicking on a site in the search engine results has much effect ... I, from purely a logic point of view, doubt it. For example, if I was on the other end and saw a person do a search, navigate to the 64th result and click on that, it is obvious they were searching for that specific result. Now do that 1000 times and not have any other mention (eg a referral from a news article at the same time) and it will look like an anonomly. Use the same search term all the time and it looks obvious then.

Just posted an ad on MTURK.

It goes as follows.

1. Go to Google.com
2. Search "my keyword"
3. Click on "my site"
4. Answer a question about my site.

I'm currently number 8 for my main keyword, so they won't have to go digging for it. Just wanted to try something new and see if it makes any difference.

I'll post the results on here, after a few days/weeks.

I have heard this only increases rank on the IP that is doing the clicking. G learns what you like and shows it to you. This is usually why people don't understand why their site is number one when they search for it but, not when other people search for it.

If it did work and someone was going to spend money on it this is what I would go about it.

1) pick a Major metropolitan area. With lots of wifi connections drive around
2) Program that cracks the wifi
3)opens a browser to g
4)searches for a site
5) clicks on desired link
6)keeps doing it until that wifi connection is out of range
7) Rinse and repeat with next wifi having changed user agent.

what i heard is this for the people who set their web history on under their account. does this happen on ip too now? geezz, no wonder i got irrelevant results

at least if you use a bot, it has to click PLUS to stay some time exploring the site, because if it leaves it as soon as he has clicked, G will think your site is irrelevant or not interesting.

this shoild work for you, Google does count visitors that come through and it does increase your serp position, Though if your on a niche that gets 100.s of clicks a day I dontg see how a few extra clicks will make a big difference,
But you want to keep them on your site for at least 30 seconds
so tell them to find a link to an internal page, AND click on it
then to tel you which paragraph has an easy enough sentence to find
put it on the second paragraph, as they will glance at the first paragraph and immediately scroll to the last expecting to find it there.

Seems like a lot of work to me,
I think somebody has made a bot for this.
