Recommendations for an online stock broker?

Hey guys,

I wanna create an account with an online stock broker, and wanted to see if you guys have any recommendations. I'm a beginner, so please keep that in mind.

I tried signing up with TradeKing (as they have low fees), but was declined. I'm a Canadian Citizen living in the USA (with a Green Card), and I did state that on the application, which is why they denied me. I should have probably just not mentioned Canada, but oh well.

Any recommendations of an online stock broker?

If your Canadian, try Questrade.

Scottrade may be good in your case because you can go into their local offices.

For large accounts, I recommend WellsTrade (by Wells Fargo) because they give you 100 free trades a year.

I like sharebuilder.com by ING. For like $10 per month you can access all the research from thestreet.com which is owned by Jim Kramer. Plus they have stocks, mutual funds and ETFs. No balance needed to open an account and pretty cheap commissions on trades.

I like sharebuilder.com by ING. For like $10 per month you can access research by thestreet.com which is owned by Jim Kramer... The Mad Money guy if you don't know who that is. They offer stocks, ETFs, Mutual Funds and Options. The commmissions are good too, and no minimum to open an account.

i use scottrade so far so good and theres a local branch, they also give you a referral link that gives anyone that signs up 3 free trades as well as 3 for yourself. Ive posted my link twice on some stocks forum and have gotten 26 free trades from it.

I have heard some bad things about etrade in terms of fees and support. If you are new to the game, which I assume you are- check out scottrade- they have the lowest fees from the trustworthy companies and they are good for beginners (in my opinion). If you are investing a lot or have some experience (or are very serious about it for the long run), look at some of the bigger companies such as Charles Schwab.

yes, this thread is about year ago, but
I really interesting with Stock for make money, right now I able make money with CPA , but I just wanna research with Stock, anyway are able make money with Stock? and what stock site support with asia?

Personally, I use Fidelity. The trade fee is only $7.95 and they have decent stock researching tools available (charts, news, comparable stocks, etc). They also e-mail me every time I make a trade successfully and monthly letting me know that my statement is available to view online. Can't ask for more personally.
