eBay Buyer doesn't want to pay

Hi,
I've sold my domain @ebay for about $1800. (I'm from Europe)
Now the winner of the auction sent me a message, that he only bid $220 and he doesn't know how it came to the $1800.

Now what should I do?
I sent him a message explaining that I had huge ebay fees (about $100) and can't sell my site now. I made him the offer to pay 20% and the ebay fees.

How should I continue or what should I do.. What CAN I do?

You normally have to submit an unpaid item case in order to get your fees back.

If I were you I would do this. You can also make a second chance offer to the second highest bidder but I would personally wait for eBay to sort this out first.

PS. Should have said that I think you have to wait 7 days before you can submit an unpaid item case.

yes just file a nonpaying buyer claim and he will get a strike and you wont owe fees...

Threaten him with a non paying strike if he does not pay. Tell the buyer that no seller will trust him again if he gets a strike and that all sellers have a list of non paying bidders and that once you put him on that list he will basically be blocked by like 95% of the sellers out there. Worst case just open a case and get your fees back and relist it. You have lost nothing out of this. I also suggest calling him and explaining this and he might go for it. You should have his phone number if he won that item.

Tell him that you will sell it for 200 dollars to him, but only after he closes the unpaid item dispute so you can get your hefty ebay charge back.

Then, have him pay you via western union or money order since you dont want to occur any extra charges, and he most likely will since he will think hes getting a great deal.


Then you get to keep the domain, and get 200 bucks...

is ebay the best place to sell a domain or site? you have no recourse against the bidder. ebay does not care.

There are non-paying bidder collection agencies like reliabid. You might have had to sign up prior to the case, but I would look into it. Also GGL "how to send non paying bidders to collections". Of course, the easiest thing to do is file for non-paying bidder and relist the item.

The OP may not necessarily have to relist the item.

As I said above there is a process called "second chance." This normally applies when you have more than one item to sell and you can approach the 2nd/3rd/4th highest bidder etc and offer to sell at their last bid price. You can also specify a time limit for how long the second chance offer will remain open.

If the bidding did go to $1800 then there must at least have been a second bid within $50 or $100 dollars of that price, depending upon the relevant increments on eGay.com. Of course, the 2nd highest bidder may well have changed their mind and may no longer want the item. However, it's always worth a go.

The difficulty with a domain/site is that there is only one item and hence, the dispute with eGay should be resolved first. Naturally, the longer time progresses, the less interested some parties become as that "bidding frenzy" has subsided. So, relisting in the New Year will probably be what happens, but concentrate on getting your fees back first!

On a side note, auctions and "second chance" offers can be rather lucrative when you have more than one item. Just make sure you make the auction a private listing so the other bidders don't get to know who paid what for the item!!

Oh yes, great minds think alike! What's the domain? Just curious, has to be good for $1800.

Yeah he must be stupid enough to believe any seller will never thrust again. You cant block bids, so what you gonna do about it. Just open a dispute, and you will receive your fees back. Don't start to threathen with lame stuff, like paying a fine nobody is stupid enough to do that.

Not correct, you can have a listing where you can start bidding from $200 but also have a buy now of $1800. Then there isn't a second chanche possible.
