well here is my biggest question we can probably call it the dumb of the day...

I have built my niche site and I have launched it now what? what can I do to make it successful? where do I go from here?

I have had a site in the past it was pretty much a fail :x all i did was build it and launch it but that was never aimed to make money, it was simply a site designed to help people learn how to build html websites, because it is something I enjoyed and wanted to share my knowledge with other people who wanted to learn how.

any insight on this topic anyone?

thanks everyone

Well, let's see.. you built a website before, teaching people how to do what you are passionate about, so that's the most important part, following your passion.

Now, you have experienced self fulfillment, but failure at what I assume by failure you mean not making any money from your efforts. So, I would say your new passion is helping people with their problems, but also making some money along the way.

Welcome to Black Hat World!! :congrats:

I mean that in all sincerity, because here, we are all learning, teaching, and figuring out great ways to make a nice income off this crazy thing called the internet! Hmm, for a real answer to your question, I would say step 1 would be, figure a way to monetize it (adsense, affiliate offers, etc). Step 2 would be to figure a way to gain more traffic and visitors. Step 3, keep coming here, read posts, participate, and don't be afraid to ask questions!

Anyone got a fuckin spoon ?

Am I missing something? Is the op asking too basic a question? Does he sound like a moron? Did he ask "so, what is a website"? I'm not getting that at all.. he is asking what his next step should be, maybe a steer in the right direction. Would it hurt? A little encouragement sure wouldn't.

make it an authority niche site.
pick subcategories of the niche and write 5 to 10 articles pointing back to that page.
"How to, Tips for, 3 Things to Do for" submit those
u want something thorough, like a golden spoon, check out x-factor's authority and niche site instruction.

If you have done your keyword research correctly and are targeting a niche that should be fairly simple to dominate, I would start with some directory submissions.

Then as mentioned above I would write some articles with a backlink with anchor text pointing back to the home page of your site. I use the following three article directories
Ezinearticles.com
goarticles.com
articlebase.com

After you do those, it would be a good idea to build a couple of web 2.0 properties pointing back to your home page also, and maybe a couple pointing to your articles, depending on if you want to get into this or not.

All in all, it is time to build some backlinks to your site to get it ranked.

If you have a little money to invest, I would suggest the linking pushing service in my signature. It is not my service, but I find it very helpful and to be one of the best services here on BHW. There is also a coupon on the thread. I would personally just run one link push on your site at first and see what it does.

Is your old site still up and how are you defining "fail"? Did it get much traffic? If it's still getting traffic you may be able to funnel that to your new site. If the old site is still up and still getting traffic, check and see what it's PR is. It may be something you can start monetizing immediately via advertising for SEO services, hosting, etc.
